De La Hoya Not Ready To Retire

After suffering the first knock out loss of his career, Oscar De La Hoya is not ready to hang up the gloves. Prior to the Hopkins bout, Oscar told the world that win, lose or draw, this was his last fight. Oscar suprised the Boxing world by taking the fight to Bernard Hopkins. Oscar fought so well that there appeared to be no evidence of a mismatch.

As the fight went on and Hopkins realized he was behind, he began to take the fight to De La Hoya. Hopkins was very accurate in the last few rounds as he began to put the hurt on De La Hoya. Eventually it was one bodyshot to the liver that did Oscar in. When I asked him about how hard this fight was on him, he surprised me with his answer.

"I couldnt believe how easy it was. Everything that I worked on in camp was coming together and I was winning the fight. I know in my heart that I can beat this guy. I tried to get up so bad (from the bodyshot), but I just couldnt do it" said De La Hoya [details]

        Oscar is just plain lying.

The fight with Hopkins was LOUSY.
It was a glorified sparring session.
Anyone who thinks Oscar was being "effective" has no clue as to what effectiveness is in a boxing match.
Once Hopkins stepped on the gas, Oscar had no reply.

Oh wait, yes he did.....he replied by putting on an acting job that caught Martin Scorcese's attention...after an arm punch bounced off of his side.

You DeLaHoya ****riders are too blind to see this man took his 30million +....& YOUR $70.00, & RAN.

        Suckers.

the rolling around and screaming by dlh did seem a bit dramatic but i dont know why he would throw the fight. he has enough money for 3 lifetimes and he had to realize he was doing ok on the scorecards. i really do wonder if he threw the fight but i like to think he did'nt. even emanuel steward seemed objective to the knockout when watching the replay.

            He didn't "throw" the fight.

He BAILED out of it. Big difference.

Oscar is a calculating guy. He figured he gave the fans enough, & held on longer than expected. He decided to get out before he took a lot of punishment, which was on its way.

I have never seen anyone react that way to a body shot....& I've seen body shots that bent guys in half, & echoed throughout the arena.
