After Floyd Mayweather, De La Hoya, RJJ, Calzaghe, Barrera, Marquez, and Taylor leave, which fighters will take over their footsteps to reach the upper echelon of the sport? This has been on my mind for a while.

    Bernard Hopkins of course.

There are plenty of good prospects on the rise. Paul Williams is a good example, he still has quite a few years in front of him. I don't think Jermain Taylor is all that old. It's hard to tell, because both Erik Morales and MAB were very good fighters who got almost no recognition until their styles made each other look great. People will come to the forefront, no doubt about it, their names just aren't out there yet.

LOL Hopkins will always be here. LOL

But what will make them more noticeable to the hardcore and casual fans?

Certainly not ESPN Wednesday and Friday Night fights?

there is always somebody waiting in the wings to be the next big thing, we'll just have to watch espn to see who is coming up in the ranks, I like Chad Dawson alot, Paul Williams will be around for a while, you mentioned Taylor but he's still young I wouldn't of put him on that list, there are more people I just can't think of them now, boxing will be ok as long as every division doesn't start to look like the HWs.

I don't think we have much to worry about with guys like Pavlik, Williams, Berto, Khan, Donaire, Bautista, Katsidis, and others on the rise. However that said I don't think there are many fighters out there who could ever come close to filling the shoes of a Marco Antonio Barrera or an Erik Morales.

i.e. Sam Peter, lol, he actually worked on a jab and straights instead of wildman hooks when he fought Toney in the second fight but I know that is going to go out the window when he gets in with Maskaev all they are going to do is throw bombs....

The fighter's who will take over most likely haven't even been noticed yet. That's how it always works!
