    just down right weird. Fought about 50 men named Seaman, fought a guy named ******, and lost all of his last fights. Just strange.

    Also, most of his fights took place in Wonderland.

      I don't know if this is the strangest or not, but I would have gotten a kick out of watching this guy "fight";

      http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php...0894&cat=boxer

      Of note, that's not the only "fight" he was said to have had, as I've seen contemporary descriptions (from the Washington Post, Salt Lake Tribune, the Associated Press, etc.) of a couple of other fights he had down in St. Petersburg, Florida which took place on Jan 20, 1934, that also resulted in four round draws, and were against a couple of younger guys named Dr. MS Emory (aka The Havana Thunderbolt), and Dynamite Charlie Young, who were 78 and 79 respectively at the time of those meetings.

        Jim Braddock. He lost like 20 some fights in a row before coming back and beating the top contenders and then winning the championship.

            Don't know if you've read it or not, McKay, or even if you're into reading boxing bios, but Jeremy Schaap's recent book on Braddock is very well researched and is certainly a quality read if looking for the scoop on Braddock.

            I haven't read this following one yet, but Mike Delisa also put out a recent bio on Braddock that, once again, is supposed to be quite a good read.

                  He was in the military for most of his fights. The Armed forces have tournaments against each other. Most likely they considered them pro fights back in the early 1900's. 174 is a big number of fights.
