I hope Chavez Jr. hits Gomez with a body shot that makes Gomez's kidneys fail. I don't respect fighters who haven't paid their dues, Gomez took an easy way out via a "reality" TV show to get to where he is and cashed in on a deflated Gatti(who at his prime, was still a bum I might add).

That's a point that is very well taken. I don't take kindly to fighters who cash in on a famous name either, like Chavez, like McGirt, and even Hopkins. However with that said, they're paying dues. Granted they haven't fought any "serious" opposition yet but I think doing so so early would be a tremendous mistake.

I don't see Chavez Jr doing much, if anything substantial in the sport but only time will tell. However I hold a much stronger grudge against guys from "The Contender". It's a slap in the face to any legit fighter who's put in his time and paid his dues.

On a side note, if your father was a famous World Champion and you also had a passion for boxing, what would you do? Change your last name?

damn some of you think just cause his name is the same as his father means he should have all the belts already, it's not like he's hyping himself up, it's the media, it's not his fault, and every interview he gives he's very respectful. bob arum is grooming him for greatness, something wrong with that?

it samw with Chavez using his father to get in the ring on HBO.

If someone gave you an oppurtiunty then take it why not. Gomez earned his respect in the boxing world a a good contender and i not saying his is the best champion or going to be champion but it opened door for him for good fight. If he win this he going to open doors to other contenders like Callazo or Sharmaba maybe Suez or Estrada
