    Marquez-Vazquez Referee - Perfectly Fine

Sorry, trying not to ruin anything for fans that haven't seen it just yet...

Just a quick note, i'm so happy Israel Vasquez won tonight, he's very underrated by many of boxing's media and fans alike.. he deserves as much credit as Rafael Marquez, both amazing boxers... and more mainstream boxing fans should know their names...

on the ref, it's not fair to criticize a referee stoppage in SLOW MOTION REPLAYS... if you're going to judge the refs call, do it in REAL TIME like he had to... Marquez looked totally drained (he allowed Vazquez to hit him with like 20 left/right hooks prior to stoppage) and completely exhausted with almost another 2 minutes left in the round.. i understand Al saying he could've given Marquez a few extra seconds but i thought it was a perfectly decent stoppage.. CAN NOT WAIT FOR ROUND 13!!!!!! (i'll be there)

I agree, after the last hook that Vasquez landed, Marquez was staring off into space. I thought it was an excellent stoppage.

I could see it in his eye live. I was like, hes done.

I'll concede that Marquez was in some definite trouble but you know my thing is this: it's Marquez vs. Vasquez, you should not be stopping that ****. Both these guys can change the pace of a fight at any given moment.

It might sound rather ****ish to say let these guys fight until one of them just completely goes down but I doubt they themselves would want it any other way.

Anyway, let's bring on the third.

It was a perfectly appropriate stoppage, Marquez threw one or two lazy punches but was really hurt.

Bad stoppage but I think Vazquez would've knocked Marquez out if the ref didn't stop it.

I picked Vazquez to stop Rafa, I always knew Vazques is the stronger fighter with the better chin, so if they fight again I will pick Vazquez to stop Rafa again, unless Vazquez gets cut or broke his nose again, that is the only way Marquez will ever beat Vazquez.

I agree completely and I even bet cash on Marquez to win. Oddly enough I bet cash on Vazquez to win in the first fight, which shows you I don't know my ass from my elbow I guess. Either that or these two guys are so much alike and made for each other style wise that picking a winner is a coin toss.

I knew I had lost my money when Vazquez floored Marquez, and prior to that I was in doubt when Vazquez caught marquez in the third round with that monster left hook. That hook was what set everything into motion for Israel Vazquez, it was so much different from the hook in the third round of the first fight. The first fight's knockdown was a short, inside punch with not a lot of snap.

I'm amazed Marquez was able to take those shots as long as he did.

I felt uneven at the end of this. Like I agreed with the stoppage because it was just so damn brutal, it was hard imaging this to go any further. Yet, something deep down inside me kept wanting to see all this bloodshed go on and more pain dished out. I think the ref did a great job at finally stopping the maddness before one of them got seriously injured. These weren't pitty pat punches, these guys were throwing KO bombs in each shot. Each one that landed was brutal!
