He also may beat women, though. So, that kinda makes you forget about the whole.. "in ring" thing, for a minute, anyway.

Mayweather is a pretty damn poor role model. The message he portrays is that belittling your opponents is the right thing for a sportsman to do, and that money is the most important thing in life. This is certainly not an attitude I want to instill in my children.

What I would like my kids to recognise is that it's best to always be humble, and always be respectful because the people you meet on the way up may also be the people you meet on the way down.

And that nonsense about how hard work can get you anywhere doesn't apply to Mayweather. His uncle was a champion, his dad was a contender, he comes from a family of prizefighters and has become a successful prizefighter. This suggests that if you work hard and apply yourself then you can achieve anything, as long as your family has the right connections. It may be realistic but it's not a good value.

mayweather is indeed a role model in my eyes.
people only see the mayweather in the buildup for the fight and forget wat he does away from boxing. yes he trash talks the perfect example , before he fought gatti he was saying he was a washed up bum with a paper championship after the fight he was a great warrior with alot of heart and he will be champion once again. but floyd helps alot of charitys in grand rapids for un priviliged kids. the public perseption of floyd is if you want something so bad you get off your ass work at it perfect it and take it to the next level and get rich along the way

Compare him to other boxers who have been good role models: Joe Louis showed great reserve in the face of horrendous racism by the press and showed that you can be dignified in the face of adversity. Ray Robinson invested heavily in Harlem and was well known as a philanthropist amongst his own people from his own neighbourhood. Ricky Hatton is a very visible advocate of children's charities. Floyd Mayweather's visible face is a trash-talking rudeboy who likes to throw cash around. It doesn't matter how nice a person you are behind closed doors, if your public persona is a braggart, a bully and a money-grubber then you're not a good role model.

I don't see that nigga go to Africa and help to fight poverty and HIV,

I don't see that nigga go to the inner cities promote education and condemn drugs and crime

I don't see that nigga pay respect to anyone and even his family members.

And what I see instead is

Living a flash life, talking trash and beating women.

That ain't no role model to me.

                      Excellent role model!

                      1. Beats women.

                      2. Fights like a coward in the ring.

                      3. Randomly attacks legend fighters, key figures in the sport, and trainers.

                      4. Compares his wealth to other people out of sheer insecurity.

                      5. Brags about his talent level while demeaning every other fighter's gifts.

                      6. Comes from a ***********al family full of crackheads and street trash.

                      7. Can't talk about anything but himself even for 1 minute (self absorbed)

                      8. Does his best to simply make himself out to be boxing's biggest bad guy.

                      9. Lives an immodest, flashy lifestyle without giving back to the community

                      10. Looks, acts and talks like a ***got.
