i say cotto has more power due to natural brute strength but mosley has power due to proper technique and speed.

cotto has more of a bruiser's power and mosley has more of an accurate, pin point, precise power.

it's a toss up, i'd hate to get hit by either guy.

the thing i like about cotto is that he doesn't care if your guard is up, he's going to hit you hard as **** in your guard and eventually break it down.

mosley is more of a finesse fighter and extremely accurate and coupled with that he aggressive. but the icing on the cake with mosley, not to say cotto isnt the same, but mosley is an excellent finisher, once he has a guy hurt or staggered he either puts them down or he puts them out.

to gauge their power it would be hard to do, cotto has solid brute strength power in each hand, where as mosley has speed and excellent technique to provide top quality power and the mind set to follow up.

what i like about both fighters is neither one rely on their power alone, they have a bag full of skill, tricks, technique they use in conjunction with their power to get the job done, i think both are prime examples of complete fighters, or at least a good solid template of how a fighter should be............

Cotto has more of a Duran type power that is heavy handed and does long term damage and stays with you. Shane has more of that pop, temporarily short circuit your brain type of power like Pacquaio, Tyson and Zab.

Shanes type of power is typically better in the beginning of the fight but that type of power dwindles as the fight progresses because fighters dont have the same pop and snap that the power is largely based on. i.e. Pac, Tyson. Thats why you see these types of guys Shane (at 135lbs), Pac and Tyson with a lot of early KO's but not nearly as many late round KO's.

Cotto's power which is not great in the beginning of fights is more is constant throughout the fight because it is not as reliant on his pop. His heavy hands have the same power later on in fights because of this. Thats why you will see guys like Duran and Cotto with more late round KO's than early round KO's.

So my vote is Shane will have more power early on but Cotto will have more power as the fight goes on.

cotto hits harder over the period of 12 rounds, mosley hits hard harder per punch

Mosley has with out a doubt the harder one punch ko power. but cotto is punishing, every shot he throws has power in, and after a few rounds that power will get to you and eventually he'll knock you out.
So i'd have to say even.

i think you pretty much have it, mosley has that one punch power that he hasn't displayed for a while save for the vargas fight, and cotto is that jcc type fighter that he just chips away at days of your life when he lands.

if i were a fighter, i'd wanna fight shane - he'd put me out quick, cotto's more sadistic in his approach.
