Why is this fight happening? Valuev should be fighting Wlad or at least somebody we've heard of.

I just read on a Russian website that Chris Byrd and Alexander Povetkin are scheduled for the same card as Valuev and Bergeron on Sep 29 in Germany!

And a southpaw, Valuev couldn't figure out Chageav, but Bergeron ain't as skillful.

What a big waste of time Valuev has become(pun intended). The guy will never be taking seriously if he doesn't step up and fight someone decent like Virchis or Klitshcko as Diego suggested...

Bergeron isn't a bum, but he's not a genuine contender either - his undefeated record is largely the result of his facing mediocre competition. This fight for Valuev is something like Rahman fighting Sykes - after losing the WBA title, Valuev needs an easier win to get back on the right track. Nicolay may be in a WBA eliminator for his next fight this winter.
