The Educated choices of the most important fights

    Taylor vs Pavlik

    Taylor
pros: Able to compete with the best comp around at 160 no question, consider the greater athlete, chin, E. steward

Cons: Unable to listen, doesn't adjust well, backs straight back, apears no longer hungry, to content, gases, front runner, has convincingly beat no one of note, loves to leave hands down alot more

    Pavlik
Pros: size, able to listen to instructions, hungry, momentum, less pressure, K.O. advantage, stamina

Consbased on one fight...lol) best win is against very sloppy fighter, untested, flat footed, need help

James Browns educated choice: Miranda is no Taylor, but smart money would be on the hungrier fighter that can follow instructions!!!! i guess....

    Cotto vs Mosley

    Cotto
pros: Heart, Stamina, Body attack activity, age, styles a round winner

Cons: Defense , Lapses later in fights, eiffy chin???, best win is against Judah (taylor made), very short WW rain, protected after chin was suspected of being substandard, 1 dimensional

    Mosley

Pros: Speed, time at WW and above, experience in big fights, blueprint unknown (multidimensional)

Cons: age,... ,... ,... , defense kinda, has greedy business partner, facing Cotto

James Brown educated choice: unbiased opinion.... Mosley... judah is a one trick pony not Mosley see sig

    Mayweather vs Hatton

    Mayweather

Pros: Speed, footwork, defense, experience, trainer, SKILLZ, chin, stamina

Cons: hugg defense??, hunger, mouth,... 50 cents friend

    Hatton

Pros: Hunger, Hugging, help????, body attack, motivation (living his dreams)

Cons: Mayweather, Luis Collazo fight, referees, only 1 well respected win, defense, speed,

James Browns educated choice: Mayweather didn't hand pick this one but if he has an anti hugging referee look for a Mayweather win UD

you didnt mention Taylor jab as pro and as a con he doesnt jab.

many fighters con is because they dont jab

Off topic: if you're really from the 'Ville and call yourself James Brown, then you might know Henry, who taught me the James Brown shuffle.

Those are some tough fights to predict.

Taylor could use his athleticism to jab and keep Pavlik away and eventually bring that powerful (although telegraphed) straight right down the pipes. Hopkins could keep away from that straight right but Pavlik does get hit. The question is whether Pavlik can take it and keep coming til he gets inside and gets Taylor up against the ropes, or whether Taylor can back him up....?????

Shane and Miguel is a tossup to me too. Shane is def. well rounded but Miguel is pretty ruthless with his aggressive body attack. I could see Shane using his speed and flurrying and possibly stopping Cotto or Cotto wearing Shane down over the rounds and stopping Shane. I think if I had to pick I'd lean towards Cotto for his youth/aggressiveness over Mosley's speed/power/experience..........??????

I actually think Hatton has a pretty good chance of beating Mayweather if he brings that fast pace and body attack for the whole fight a la Mayweather vs. Castillo 1. I hope for the sake of boxing that Hatton is able to do this and takes the W.

Cotto-most compelling attribute is his pressure....

              Tailor made?
And of course you knew this BEFORE the fight right?

I have a problem with posters claiming after a fairly one-sided fight that so and so was "tailor made" for them. No, Cotto just imposed his will onto Zab and was more active. Shouldn't Cotto's style have been "tailor made" for Zab as well???

Along with "past his prime", "tailor made" is one of the more over-used phrases on boxingscene.

It's hilarious that you said one of Hatton's cons is Mayweather, it is going to be a bad night for Ricky.
