I guess you're including yourself in this statement.
(just jokes)
I was just talking to Jon about this fight the other day. Rasheem most certainly had and blew his chance at the big time, but is probably right around the same position career-wise as J. Both badly need a win to remain relevant. Surprisingly, the winner of this fight will have scored arguably the biggest win of his career to date.
Aside from vague memories of his amateur days, the only fights I remember seeing of Rasheem's were his losses, primarily his loss to Jose Spearman on ESPN2. Unfortunately, his fight had the misfortune of preceding Daniel Eduoard-Willie Gibbs, which turned out to be on of the year's (2004) best fights. Kinda like how Juan Manuel Marquez looked hella impressive against Victor Polo, but that nobody remembered the fight because of the night's main event - Corrales-Castillo I.
Two of Brown's losses are to guys he had no business losing to - Spearman and Darnell Boone. The way those fights turned out, it should've been the opposite. Spearman dropped him (though it was bs call from my recollection) and eked out a spilt decision. Boone flat out dominated him, whereas he's usually the one scoring a surprise knockdown and edging out the fight.
J's my homie, and I'm obviously pulling for him. He's actually in a good position - Brown's coming off of a layoff, and views Reid as a name with little substance (in other words, an easy win). In an otherwise even fight, that may be the edge J needs to prevail.Comment

I know Jon from around the way. He used to train a couple of blocks from where I work, and also regularly trains w/ my homeboy (Luis Galarza, whom I also manage). I try to make it a point to get to know all of the boxers around here.Comment
