Floyd Mayweather Jr's. arms are longer than Paul Williams' arms, despite Paul's height advantage.
Interesting.
This would be an interesting fight someday. Mayweather can't hurt Paul- that's for sure. Most natural welterweights and junior middleweights of any repute won't be hurt by Floyd. So the question is- can Floyd keep up with a high output fighter like Paul? I mean...let's say Williams threw 90 punches a round- which would not be unheard of for him. Floyd throws 30, boxes well, and lands 70% to Paul's 45%....what's that mean? Paul lands more than Mayweather even throws. Some judges are going to notice that Williams lands more punches and, despite Floyd's accuracy, give him rounds. I think pure pressure could help Williams pull out a UD. No one else agree?
From shoulder to fingertip, Mayweather has 36 inch long arms, according to his pre-fight measurments against Oscar. By the same accord, Paul Williams is listed as having 35 and a half inch long arms for his fight with Margarito.
So yea, apparently Floyd's arms are longer unless they "rigged" his measurments.
That's not accurate. Williams has a ten-inch reach advantage on Mayweather. 82 to 72.
I've never been a fan of the wingspan measurement for reach. Unless it is just for jaw-dropping factor, which Williams obviously does. But reach should be how long the arms can go away from the target, in which case, the armpit to the end of the fist seems to be a more accurate measurement, at least for the purposes of boxing.
I find it hard to believe mayweather has the same reach or longer then paul williams
It's like this..
Mayweathers ARMS are longer. From his middle-finger tip, to his arm pit, his arm is longer. HOWEVER, With both arms stretched, from middle-finger tip to middle-finger tip, Williams has the longer reach. They're two different type of reach measurements, and different groups of people use each, for different reasons.
The reason there SEEMS to be a flaw is because Williams is tall. So he has MUCH broader shoulds, as tall fighters tend to have (Think; Tommy Hearns).. So when you add in the shoulders, you give Williams the egde in the tip to tip measurement. When you go from tip to pit, you have Mayweather ahead, slightly. That's all.

not at all, Paul williams will not be able to throw 90 punches a round against Mayweather because hes not a idiot like Margarito, he will move around the ring. this fight reminds me od Mayweather Corrales
