    People Are Overrating Forrest

He's a beast and a very good fighter but he is very flawed. The same guys who thought he was done and garbage in his last fight are now calling him the best guy out there. If you rewatch the tapes, he didnt change one bit. He fought the exact same way. The difference is that Baldy was made for him because of his lack of speed while Ike is quick enough to put pressure on him.

Dont get me wrong, he's got top fighters skills but pressure bothers him. I dont think he beats a guy like Margarito unless he can hurt him with a big punch. I just havent seen him do well enough against Ike, Mayorga, and Baldy to pick him over Margarito. Cotto, maybe. Cotto can pressure and has some speed but he is also super short. I also wouldnt pick Forrest over Clottey. His style is similar to Ike's and I think he would give Vernon those same problems. I do think he kills Cintron. Williams is interesting. He is very good but he's winning alot due to his size. Forrest is big enough to where it wont be a factor and Forrest has the boxing skills to hang with him. However, Vernon's chin is shakey and I could see Williams hurting him more then he did Margarito. It would be a good fight which I think is 50/50 but I would slightly favor Williams.

At 154 I also think Karmazin gives him hell and I would pick him over Forrest because of his pressuring style. Forrest looked like a star but Mayorga exposed that one huge flaw and I dont think he's proved that he can still keep a pressure guy off of him

well in anothe thread u said baldomir is VERY good, so what does that make forrest who beat him in a easy UD? i think that would make him great wouldnt it? baldomir is a good fighter, and forrest is a little better. both past their primes, both are not elite, IMO.

Yeah I remember thinking he lost against Ike. He looked great last night, yes partly because of the style matchup. I would just say it was a damn good performance for being so inactive.

he looked good, it was a fight to where he would be tested as far as stamina and mental toughness, but forrest looked good last night. he was throwing good shots, keeping his distance, and he looked like he was having fun in the ring.

when he fought quartey i thought that he didn't have the drive in that fight, and i had him losing in against quartey, but last night he looked fresh and revived. i think that forrest has got a few good performances in him and there ought to be some good match ups for him at 154 and around 160. he aint top dog but he's a good enough to make some quality fights right now. he needs to keep up with his momentum and take a fight sooner than later to keep that drive alive.

I knew somone would bring that up but I made it very clear in both threads. I said Baldy is very good because I see everyone on here ripping him and calling him a bum when that clearly isnt the case but he does need to be matched against certain fighters. Forrest is also super good but a certain style is going to give him hell. Baldy was made for him. Another thing is I think Forrest would kill Baldy all day but I wouldnt be shocked one bit to see Baldy beat a guy that would beat Forrest. Obviously Forrest has more skills to deal with different styles but I still see him struggling with those pressure guys. I would pick Margarito to beat him but I wouldnt be shocked one bit to see Baldy beat Margarito because I think he's one of the few guys who have the strength to battle with Margarito, has the chin to take all his shots, and the way he throws his punches would allow him to hit Margarito all day.

I dont know man. I made a thread on here last night before the fight but you probally didnt see it. Anyways, I was going to bet on the fight so I rewatched some of there fights. I rewatched Forrest vs Ike and I wrote on here that Vernon looked alot better then what people thought he did. He looked exactly the same way he looked last night if not better, early on. The difference is that Ike has the overall speed & quickness that Baldy doesnt so he can keep that pressure while Baldy is always going to be one step off or one step too far away. I honestly dont believe there was much difference in Vernon between the 2 fights but Ike has the speed to keep closer to him and make it tougher

I don't like how forrest fights, it was funny when baldy wanted to fight and forrest kept back peddling. I forget what round it was but baldy kept signaling forrest to come fight and forrest ran around the ring like the last 30 seconds of the round... It was ridiculous... Was that the 9th round when Baldy had him hurt?

He got a gift against Quartey, and he lost against Ricardo Mayorga... the guy who lets everyone know what kind of punch is going to be thrown before it happens because he winds up so much and throws from such obvious looping angles. Two losses against Mayorga should put anyone out of elite status for the rest of their careers. I personally think Forrest gets a lot of credit because he beat Shane Mosley twice, which in reality was probably just a good stylistic matchup for Forrest.

Man, anyone can look good against Baldy unless your unfocused or too small for the weight class. I'm telling you, Baldy had 15 minutes of fame and it peaked when he finally got the match with Mayweather Jr. Baldy has like absolutely nothing stand out and is as generic of a fighter as you could get. I'll give him toughness but that's it. If you beat Baldy, don't think your great.
