  • Is HBO hurting themselves...or helping

i posted the thought below on another thread, but i wanted 2c what other people think about what HBO has been doin the last couple years

"Larry just dislikes everyone in boxing today except mayb De La Hoya..i'm really getten sick of his ass and everyone else on a whole is to..if HBO isnt carefull they gon ruin boxing for themselves..they getten pretty bad bout hypen certain HBO fighters that arent that gr8 not to mention names tho(Jermaine Taylor). Than to make things worse a slow boring announcer who obviously has lost a lot of his brain..i'm truly surprised more boxers dont jus refuse an interview from him i know i would. It jus seems that the HBO announcers are alwayz biased to a certain fighter whereas the other show actually seem 2 call it as no favorite"

Merchan't commentary I usually agree with, when something is **** he calls it which I like, They need to get rid of Kellerman though.

That is the one thing that pisses me off about Merchant. OMG, THIS FIGHT IS PUTTING ME TO SLEEP LOL. Cool Larry, keep calling yourself a boxing enthusiast when you only seem to enjoy street fights. Although the Mayweather-Baldomir fight wasn't the most exciting, I didn't think it was boring. It was a guy putting on a clinic of slipping and counterpunching, but of course, Larry Merchant dominated the commentary with his thoughts about how Floyd is not an all time great because he doesn't unnecessarily jeaoporadize a lead and go for the knockout. It's just frustrating to see someone who has seen enough boxing to know that a win is a win continue to talk like that.

I like Merchant because he says like it is.

If any boxer is worried about what someone says about him or her then they need to find a different vocation. Boxing is about steeping up into the forefront and saying, "I can beat you."

In any case, I don't always agree with Merchant but he is a brilliant analyst and always interesting.

Sometimes I think Larry Merchant is the John Madden of boxing.
