Estrada Stops Luther, Vows To Beat Berto

David Estrada (21-3, 12 KOs) stopped Luther C. Smith (22-5-2) in the fourth round of their co-feature bout at the Palm Beach County Convention Center. Estrada battered his opponent against the ropes to prompt the referee to stop the fight. [details]

I'll be supporting Berto if/when they fight.

It was said in another thread- Estrada has some lightning in those fists. Maybe not the biggest puncher but he's got pop. He puts guys down. He had Cintron hurt in their sea-saw battle. He went a full 10 with Mosley, too. The guy is a decent fighter who has been in with better competition than Berto. Maybe Andre needs to get a little more experience before he hops into the ring with Estrada, huh?

He needs to be in with skilled men, journeymen, who aren't crap but pose no immediate danger. Decent punchers with skill and moderate records. Then I say throw him in with other dangerous PROSPECTS like him. Rather than pure skill versus experience a fight like that would be a learning experience that relies more heavily on his abilities. ****...put him in with some other ESPN2 prospect. If he was a junior welterweight I would say put him in with a guy like Lamont Peterson.

Like...put him in with a Isaac Hlatshwayo type of ESPN2 welterweight. When he does step back up to B.A.D. let's throw him in with Alfonso Gomez. A guy who many of us think just fought a shot Gatti but isn't all that special. He certainly isn't a power puncher.

Not sure who wins yet.. Still have to really think about it. Either way, I like the match up.
