after rewatching the Hopkins wright fight

Hopkins really impressed the **** out of me with his short inside shots that compubox/HBHO! gave him very little credit. He also displayed great movement getting Winky to reach with a lot of shots and then coutering him very well, thats not easy. Hopkins was physical as hell with Winky smartly wearing him down and hitting him very hard to the body, all the talk about the holding and dirty tactics was greatly hyped by HBO and to be honest with you the whole HBO team disappointed me with their BS about how these two guys are slow and almost done, on and on blah blah. ****in Please! Winky is a tough guy to hit clean and Hopkins did it better than anyone Ive seen. Those body shots he hit Winky with were lifting Winky's feet off the canvas. Yeah Hopkins did a lot of hitting and then pushing or holding but Winky allowed this and did a high amount of tying up with his arms on the inside. After rewatching this fight I give Hopkins far more credit than at first and a very good chance against any Light heavy including Dawson.

One more thing Im tired of Larry Merchant and Emmanual Steward trying to tell fighters thta they should hang it up or painting them as a certain type of fighter that no one wants to see fight. Steward said Winky cant hang with the young fighters of the day Pavlik, Taylor and uh who else? Its funny that alittle over a year ago Winky handed Taylor a bit of a beating in there draw, so how the **** does Steward Question Wrights abilities?

I was thinking the exact thing watching the fight. It's not a bad idea for Hopkins to call it a career at this point but he certainly doesn't have to.

Emanuel Steward took every opportunity to detract from Hopkins..

And tonight he said he should retire and "can't compete."

I think the fight should have been a draw after rewatching it. Winky was too heavy and as a result too slow. It was a mistake for him to move up. Hopkins did hold way too much. Kessler or Calzaghe beats Hopkins easy. This fight should not have been a PPV, but it looked like the undercard was bad ass. Did Bob Papa say tonight that a couple of guys will never fight again?

I totally agree. Hopkins was brilliant. It's about hitting and not get hit. All of those who talk about exciting fighters don't really get the first principal of the sport - make him miss and then hit. Generally a lot of people who cheer for blood and guts have never been in the ring and don't understand what it takes to step in and do it. Brains shifting inside of skull is not healthy and I really admire guys like Hopkins and Wright (tough Wright has become more aggressive and gets hit more), Mayweather and so on. They use their talent 100% and stay on top because of their skills. Look at Micky Ward man. He still sees double when he looks up after his fights with Gatti. That's the price u pay for blocking punches with your head and not with gloves. And talk of retirement is soooo boring. Hopkins was physically stronger then Wright and had more wind in late stages of the fight.
