    Fight weight vs weigh-in weight

Fight weight stepping into the ring is true weight , the weigh-in weight is just fight weight thats been dehydrated down to make the lighter weight , its not real body weight .

If the boxing ruling bodys all decided to do the weigh-in right before the fight , the entire world population of boxers would all fight in the next higher division to what they are in now .

So this Hatton is not a welter and Floyd is and the fight should be this and that is all bull**** , thier fighting weight is the same !

that may be true, but something is different along the ways of losing and/or gaining weight because winky had to MAKE 170 pounds to fight hopkins and he looked slow/sloppy,fat and lathargic and his legs were shaky as hell, but yet he looked as sharp and crisp as ever fighting at 169 pounds against jermain taylor
i dont get it, kan someone explain it to me???

i think there will be a difference because hatton normally naturally blows up to 147-150 pounds on fight night whereas now he has to go up to 147 before the fight night, i think its a natural vs forcing thing

He would be that the night before anyway , he dont make 140 untill the weigh-in and probably trains at about 150 to 155 , the only difference between Floyd and Ricky last fights is Ricky dried out to 140 the day before , where Floyd actually weighed more at the weighing 151 I think it was , then at fight time he dropped to 148 , Floyd didnt need to dry out thats the only difference .

        @ ljr06
He was fighting at close to 180 with Hopkins 170 was the day before , at 180 he is fat not like when he fought Taylor more than 10 pnds lighter at fight time , dont confuse weigh-in weight and fight weight .

Totally right. The weight is a non-issue for these two fighters.

          2 Scenarios:

          1) The fight is at 140lbs and Hatton drys out to make weight and then rehydrates to come in on fight night at around 150lbs-ish.

          2) The fight is at 147lbs and Hatton doesn't dry out and makes weight at 147lbs while rehydrating to 150lbs-ish.

So tell me whats the difference when PBF will weight in at 146lbs-148lbs MAX come fight night.

the reason they dont weight in before the fight is to prevent dehydration during.

It's for power. Paul Williams fought Margarito at 162lbs. That is 2 divisions higher than the 147 the day before. Margarito was at 157lbs.

                Hatton makes 140 easily.

Kerry Kayes put an extra 7lbs of muscle onto Hatton's already short, squat frame and already musclular body, for the Collazo fight, and it ****ed him up because he came in at 158 (instead of his usual 147-149). If that happens again, he won't win 10 seconds against Mayweather.
