It was a strong fight for Berto with a flash knockdown. If that doesn't happen he sweeps the fight IMO. Could be good for him in the long run. Make him a little more careful.

As for not getting the KO. Rivera had only been KO'd once, by Zab Judah in the 3rd of their fight.

If anything, I think it should convince Berto's trainers to keep his progression slow.

His next fight is against David Estrada, who also has been knocked out only once... TKO by Kermit Cintron in the 10th. Only other losses are to Mosley and Ishe Smith. Should be interesting.

I saw the opportunity for a Berto KD at about the end of the 2nd, but I didn't know if Rivera would manage to take advantage of it. I had a good laugh when it happened. Not because Berto did something wrong (he did, but that's expected, he's young, in a hurry, and still a little bit inexperienced), but because my youngest boy was watching the fight with me, and I'd told him early on that Berto might go down for the first time in this fight. Of course he thought I was nuts, with Rivera being so heavy on the defensive and Berto swinging for the fences. Anyway, what cracked me up was when Berto went down from that uppercut, my kid's eyes got HUGE and he looked at me like I was psychic and able to predict the immediate future. It's fun, being able to keep my kids on their toes like that.

People like a big puncher....get used to it.

Berto is a decent prospect, but if he doesn't learn a little more technique and some self-control, he's going to have his ass handed to him by the first guy he runs into with good handspeed, a great jab, and lots of reach.

But Khan is bigger everywhere even on Boxingscene. Ppl expect him to not get knocked down. Berto doesnt even get publicity besides him fighting. Reason why ppl get surprised and start hating on Khan when it happens to him. To many ppl its not suppose to happen cause he's been hyped quite well. And when it does happen its more of an"I told you Khan wasnt invincible" In which most ppl see him as.

that is true, but it shows he can be ko'd...maybe. If Cotto hit him like that, as of monday, July 30...he'd still be out
