Win, lose or draw to Hatton Mayweather's accomplishments in the sport already speak for themselves. I think it would be absurd for one to try to tarnish what he's already accomplished if he loses to Hatton, which he will not.

No he wouldn't. But I will tell you many of the member here on BS will have a field day with it. But you can't take away any of his previous accomplishments even if he were to lose. But he won't.

It will just stop the allegations that he's the G.O.A.T, it won't change the fact that he's a top 5 fighter of our generation.

People on this forum love to try to base all of their assumptions and opinions on 1 fight... So yes I do believe lots of people would be thinking Mayweather is a bum and no good and "I told you so" and all of that... Even though it was just 1 fight out of his 38 or so.

In my opinion, if he loses he still can go on to redeem himself and be even more looked upon.

If Calzaghe and Mayweather were in the same weight class. Who would win Shanus?

I think Hatton has nothing to lose going into this fight. I read in this forum hundreds of times how Hatton is a bum, how he is garbage, how all his opponents have been bums, shot fighters or past their prime and so on. Nothing he's done, not defeating p4p #3 all time great Tszyu, or being the first to ever knock down Castillo, or defeating strong young titleholders like Collazo and Urango count for anything. If he fights and defeats anyone else but Mayweather, the same will continue - Malignaggi will be called a bum, Cotto will be said to be overrated, De La Hoya will be said to be past his prime, and Casamayor will be called a "shot" fighter.

So if Hatton loses to Mayweather, nothing will change - the opinions will remain the same. Hatton will neither gain nor lose any respect. He has nothing to lose, really - his fans will still love him, and the haters will still discredit him.

But what happens if he KOs Mayweather? Wouldn't that be embarassing to the Hatton haters! Some of the worst Hatton haters are Mayweather fans - I think if Mayweather loses to Hatton it will destroy them...
