What is your opinion on the recent mayweather/HBO fiasco?

Hbo is offering floyd mayweather next to nothing cash for him to fight in december, Mayweather turned down the cash and that turns down the fight...He would have been fighting Gianluca Branco, the same guy who took it to Gatti for 12 rounds....

Mayweather was getting paid like $3.25 million a fight and now HBO wants to only give him $1.3 million per fight now that his contract is up.

What stirs the pot is that Mayweather is the only undefeated fighter HBO has at this point and is at the top of most p4p lists....

The controversy is that hbo shouldnt be ****ting on a RESPECTED AND NO QUESTIONS undefeated fighter like floyd...So now Mayweather and Gatti might not even be a show anymore and possibly hbo offered that little amount because they knew floyd would reject it.

    What is your opinion?

I think it is horse**** and they are just playing to Gatti's card and get Mayweather out of the title picture so Gatti can hang on a bit longer.....

Mayweather isnt a HUGE draw, although they can pay gatti less money and act like he is the savior while Mayweather lurks in the shadows...

Mayweather isn't an attraction. Hopkins got 2.8 million when he fought Trinidad from HBO. Mayweather should get 3.25 for fighting Branco? I don't think so.

Mayweather's record don't mean ****. The question is can he draw the ratings to HBO that makes him worth 3.25 for fighting a mid-level opponent.

    Hell no!

If Floyd doesn't like it, he can either fight a tougher opponet to warrant that money or go to Showtime who can pay him about half of what HBO does. HBO doesn't owe him anything. And he doesn't owe HBO anything. It's business.

I think it has to do with his lower than expected fan base. While he did put out a good performance against chop chop, some of his fights before that were real snoozers and therefore when he fought corley the Arena looked empty even to the cameras. I mean seriously it was a surprise to most people to say Mayweather put on a exciting performance. Most people thought he was gonna circle/almost run around corly throwing one shot here one there much like spinks vs Mayorga.

He isnt really a crowd pleaser like say, Morales who constantly sells out the arena, and does well on PPV sales weather he is fighting Barrera, chavez, or Hernandez. All about Money and giving people what they want.

Also if his contract is over and he hasnt re-signed with them thats probably a reason too, they want him to sign with HBO again.
