Even if Mosley had disadvantages in speed and power I would pick Shane. I would take a Mosley 5 years older to beat Cotto. He's multiple levels above Miguel in terms of skill, experience, and ring intelligence. Shane Mosley is also one TOUGH son of a *****. He loves to brawl and is at his best during wild exchanges and intense action.

Cotto is an extremely limited fighter. The only elite opponent Miguel has ever been in with was a guy notorious for everything Shane Mosley ISN'T. Poor stamina, poor concentration, questionable determination, questionable chin, questionable packaging.. Shane Mosley is a complete fighter with exceptional ability. Zab Judah gave Cotto the "toughest fight of his life" throwing about 4 punches a round. What does that tell you?

Again, Miguel Cotto is a limited fighter. He lunges in with stiff leads and then collapses to the body with combinations. He swtiches stances and mixes up his punching but this is a thinly veiled illusion. He only does one thing.

Cotto has beaten his opponents with clever committment to vulnerable parts of the body. Not with raw power. He hits hard, but more so; he hits often. There are no special effects with Cotto. Just workmanlike consistency. If you take away Cotto's body punching what do you have? Not much. Basically a tough kid who's not very fast, not at all devastating to the head, not clever about his choices.. You have a sitting duck. Not only does he have a poor defense, when punches start flying he has a tendency to freeze up and flounder. He's absolutely terrible during exchanges and when he's being attacked.

Shane Mosley is not afraid to be hit. He's not afraid to be hurt. He's actually a bit of a kamikaze. He'll stay within his envelope, but make him mad or land something eye-catching and Shane will put something on you. Something very meaningful. He understands momentum and urgency as well as any fighter alive. Shane Mosley does not willingly allow himself to fall behind. If he can't beat you doing one thing, he'll try several things simultaneously to overwhelm and confuse you. Particularly hard power punches to the head and body. Shane is not a guy you can beat down. Not whatsoever.

Cotto is going to be the architect of his own demise in this fight. He's going to hit Mosley with the kind of shots that irritate and excite Shane. The kind of shots that Mosley is going to explosively counter. Miguel overcommits to everything, not just his hard stuff. His leads, his jabs, ect. Miguel also has somewhat clumsy legs. Even if he had the instincts to roll out and retaliate properly he doesn't have the natural qualities to facilitate ANY dog fight. This contest is going to become a brawl sooner than later and when it does Miguel Cotto is going to find himself in hell.

This is going to be satisfying.

Addison, what about the Cotto - Williams fight? I'm not so sure. I think Shane is not the same fighter he used to be and he's going to be well tested for roids, so they probably won't play a factor here. I think Cotto will pull it off, IMO.

There's no possible way Cotto wins this fight.

                He's just too ****ty.

The guy is a lunger who can't take a good shot.

While I agree with you, that Shane is many levels above Cotto, he is an astonishingly effective body puncher none-the-less.

Yeah, but what about the Williams fight? What are your thoughts on that? It can't be ignored.

                      Paul Williams?

                      If he fought Cotto?
