Shane Mosley vs. Miguel Cotto

It's gonna be rough on Mosley, but Mosley fights only one way and can be discouraged. Thus there will be a lot of clinching and in clinch fighting. Look back at wright fights, mosley never tried to adopt to Wright(or even look back to forrest fights) and this will be a key to beating him. You can call Cotto what you want but boy can bring it when he has to. And I promise you, the fight is not gonna be pretty but Cotto's youth will overcome mosley, who in the end, is no sping chicken.Comment

Why would the Wright fights be a good point of reference? Winky is one of the greatest fighters of his generation, naturally a bigger man, has one of the best defenses in the sport - basically he has nothing in common with Cotto.
Winky discouraged virtually everyone who faced him in the last chunk of years. Mosley had the guts to fight a rematch with Winky and performed better the second time. The Wright fights only speak well of Mosley..
Again, Forrest has virtually nothing in common with Cotto.. Nothing.
When we make these arguments the argument for Mosley is stronger in theory and on paper many times over.
The basis for Cotto is age, and nuthuggery aka ballsuckery..Comment

I thought you would refer to Mosley's age.. That's it right?...

Read my post again, I was not comparing Cotto to either Wright or Forrest. I was only saying that Mosley's biggest flaw is unadoptability. That's where Cotto will have to make it a very awkward fight for Mosley and he will just out strength him and control the clinch.
That wouldn't be a concern of mine..
Mosley did show some trepidation with both of those men - but they at least had their size in common. Cotto doesn't have anything in common with them aside from a forward approach. Cotto is in the category of all the other guys EXCEPT Wright and Forrest who LOST to shane Mosley.
Cotto is the one who needs to be concerned. It is he who doesn't fight well when he's being attacked, backed up, or hit with hard punches.Comment

You think Mosley will have trouble making adjustments with Cotto?

We will see if Shane has enough to go into trenches. My bet is --he does not.Comment

Have you done any research on this???
In the trenches Cotto gets basted the **** out.
You must be kidding..
Cotto is at his best walking down opponents who stop punching back after his damaging body work takes effect. The INSTANT Cotto's opponents attack back with any sort of substance Cotto shuts down completely.
Miguel is underrated at understanding when to back off and box a little bit.
The LAST place Miguel Cotto wants to be is in the trenches.Comment

I have to disagree with you Brook. In the Collazo fight Shane fought well off the back foot & counter punched so well in the fight he made Collazo gunshy. He also came forward alot in the fight & fought well too. I see that as Mosley has gotten older he's been showing more on his boxing skill than relying on his pure athelticism. I think this fight will be close at first but Shane will show that he's a class above Cotto as the fight goes on punishing him with hard counters.Comment
