It would be a close match but I would put my money on Calzaghe simply because of his conditioning, stamina and punching rate...

It has to be 50-50, and I think that is where it will end up as once all the negotiating gets done. People talk about Hopkins beinh the draw if the fight is in the US so should get the lions share but if it was in the UK then Calzaghe would be the draw ... but I don't hear the septics arguing that Calzaghe should get the most money then.
If you look objectively, there is very little between the two careers and resumes of Hopkins and Calzaghe. Hopkins might have fought a couple of bigger "names" but they either resulted in defeats or wins against blown up welters.
This is a very rare situation in that there really isn't a viable alternative opponent for either of them. It'll happen. The one thing that is surprising me is that this fight isn't happening at 168 .... I'm amazed Hopkins doesn't want the opportunity to become a three weight world champion and I give him more chance of winning at 168 than 175 which is where Calzaghe should have been fighting years ago.
