Bernard should write promos for WWE or somthin haha....I enjoy his trash-talking (although he's just really putting himself over)..he really knows how to sell a fight...I got this off a site by the way...these are his words from the final presser with Winky...
BH: "First, I see a couple of kids around here. I want to make sure my wife and my eight year old daughter cover their ears for about ten seconds. winky said he's not going to sell the fight, that he doesn't have to sell the fight, but I am. I'm going to kick his ass, come this Saturday. I did warn you all to cover the babies ears up. I just want to put that out there, because I do have respect. His family, his brother, an NFL football player, or whatever he is, I love him, but I'm going to kick his ass."
I want to put you all on notice right now, so at least you all will understand that this wasn't said after the fact. So we're all clear that I said it now. Then, when it's over with, just pay homage to it. I'd like to thank everybody that supported this fight. I'll even thank the ones who didn't support it. Some of the media, not a lot. I don't want to waste too much time, too much conversation on that. I'll say this, for the ones that watched me over the years, whether it's fans or trainers, or fighters or even reporters, agree with me or disagree with me. I never come into the ring a lap dog, I'm not there to snooze or collect a paycheck, just to say that I was in the ring. That's not my style.
My resume is what it is. I can't sell you on me, because I'd be a fool. You know who I am, you've seen my record. You've seen the defenses, I made history in the middleweight division. Records that will probably never be broken in my lifetime. So, what do I want to sell you? I can sell you this fight. For those who don't want to sell the fight, I can tell you you're going to be more angry at the person who told you not to watch the fight, when you hear the results of it. I'm hoping on the other side, when he says action packed, offense not defense, you heard his trainer say that. You heard Winky Wright say that. Everybody has a plan, until they get hit. Everyone has a plan, until things don't go their way. Let's see who changes their plan, in a negative way.
I know that I'm here for the second chapter in Bernard Hopkins career as a light heavyweight. This is not a new Bernard Hopkins, but there is a new body here. I fought at middleweight for over thirteen years, and accomplished greatness. I've just figured out that I've got this new, nice looking, car that I didn't think I would be too comfortable in. I just happened to get it, and it's a light heavyweight body. I went in there, and I went up against Tarver, who was called a legend killer. When I look at my resume, at the guys that I've fought over the years, I look at Winky Wright. If you're going on a job interview, to get a job, to show people what you're made of, they've heard lip service. They've heard all the rhetoric, about this and that. The best thing you can have, to show somebody who you are, is documentation called a resume.
When I look at the guys that Winky has fought over the years, there are a few good guys. I look at the guys I've fought over the years, even the #1 contenders, the Antwun Echols, the Howard Eastman, the Keith Holmes, who was originally from D.C., I look at these resumes, and I say to myself, "Winky said, 'Bernard fought a lot of southpaw fighters. He fought John David Jackson, he fought this person, and that person, but he hasn't fought a Winky Wright.'" I'm going to be honest with you, out of all the guys I've fought, and this has nothing to do with his ability, because I do respect my enemy right now, and he is my enemy right now. This is how I'm thinking, as I prepare for battle. He said I've never fought no one like him, he's right, becuase I know that I've been up against stronger, and better competition, from a right hander or a lefty.
I know that this will be a challenge for me to make something happen that Winky has never experienced. To make him quit, to beat him up, to knock him out. I'm not backing up off of that, because that's what I'm going in there to do. I'm going in there to do that. I just want you all to understand that, so it's going to be a shoot-out for a minute. I just hope that he has no excuse about his new family member. His mind was somewhere else, or the new baby in the house, I had to do this, I had to do that.
I don't take no excuses, because for him to make this fight, I even sweetened the pot a little bit. I said, "We can do this fight, and you know what, since I'm the light heavyweight king, which Tarver was prior to June 10th of last year, I'll make sure that there's no way he can wiggle out of this." Bernard is 42, he's too old to fight. I didn't want him to have any excuse. I said I'd do this fight for my championship belt, at 170. I hope you lifted a lot of weights. I said I'd do it at 170, I said I will give him the 5 pounds.
You're going to see something great come Saturday. I'm telling you, you're going to see something great. Some will be upset and some will be mad, but you know what, for all the Winky Wright fans go ahead and bet that money. You're going to make a nice little piece of change come Saturday.
You never know how the dice roll. Thanks for being patient. I've put everybody on notice, I'm coming to fight like I always do. I'm telling you, I will beat him up. He takes abuse, he takes a hell of a shot. To all his family members and friends, this is the before and after picture. See him now, after the fight is over with, still love him and still hug him. Bring him back to life, so he can be that Winky again. Enjoy the way he looks now, because the sand in the hourglass is falling, falling down until execution. Just remember what I said. Thank you."
