Who will fill the HBO void?

Although HBO settled its most pressing concern about its announcer lineup last month when it finally re-signed star analyst Larry Merchant to a new two-year contract and announced that he would share duties with Max Kellerman on "World Championship Boxing" and HBO PPV events, that wasn't the end of the shuffle.
When Kellerman was promoted from "Boxing After Dark" it meant HBO needed a new analyst for the series, since Kellerman will no longer appear on it.
Part of Merchant's new deal included him agreeing to work two "Boxing After Dark" telecasts per year. He worked the June 16 Paulie Malignaggi-Lovemore N'Dou card and will be ringside July 28 for the Vernon Forrest-Carlos Baldomir fight.
Looks like after July 28th, there will be only 2 guys calling the fights on the BAD series.

Who could possibly fill the void?

I liked Wally Mathews (i think thats his name) from VERSUS, Papas old partner. He was very knowledgable and good.

Please god avoid TEDDY ATLAS and JOE TESSITORE.

Who else can they choose from? It will definetly be someone with experience...

Bring in Mike Tyson. Mike needs the cash and his commentary would be amazing.

Bob Papa: Amazing action tonight, don't you think Mike?

Tyson: I'll **** you 'til you love me f@ggot!!

I've always wondered why Sugar doesnt do commentating.

I'd like to see Atlas get the job, but he has a lot of critics. I also don't think he'd even be interested in it.

Yeah, on a serious note I've always wondered the same. Sugar is a master of his craft and his wealth of knowledge in the sport amazes me. Maybe he just doesn't want to branch out into Commentary, although I think he'd be great at it. Teddy Atlas is best kept on ESPN, I can handle him, but only in small doses. And there's no telling what the **** Atlas would say on a network like HBO.

Rafael had some kind of article about on ESPN.com, but you had to be an "IN" member to read it. Did anybody read it? I like Wally Matthews he's very knowledgable and doesn't stray away from what's on his mind.

Bob Sheridan could be good (commentated at Tyson-Douglas for example, and recently Holyfield-Savarese).

Yeah I actually think Mike would do a good job, I doubt anybody would even give him a chance though. With his reputation and all I don't think he could get a job commentating a hotdog eating contest. Which sucks because Mike always makes for either a great laugh or some serious insight.
