Earlier in the week Jack Mesi was quoted as saying Baby Joe was ready to step up against Williams, Brian Minto and possibly Hasim Rahman, in that order. Today I caught up with both Mesi’s and Jack Mesi confirmed that Sherman Williams was a go and that there was a verbal agreement in place for Brian Minto in October though no contracts have been signed yet. Nice interview; Mesi has always seemed like a ‘down to earth’ kinda guy and I wish him the best in what is a pretty tough 3 fight schedule. Although Mesi hasn’t fought the best competition(some may say it’s the worst, and I might concur), I admire the fact that he’s fighting so frequently and seems now to be on a ‘breakneck’ pace to get back into the top ten.
As I stated on a previous Mesi thread, his next opponent Sherman Williams is no pushover and this should be a good test to see how he does against a very decent journeyman fighter… -
