BoxingScene Staff Predictions: Hopkins vs. Wright

By Rick Reeno - This coming Saturday, two of the best ring technicians in the game will collide for the Ring managazine light heavyweight title at a catch-weight of 170-pounds.

Bernard 'The Executioner' Hopkins (47-4-1, 32 KOs) returns from a brief retirement to answer the call of slick southpaw Ronald 'Winky' Wright (51-3-1, 25 KOs).

Hopkins, 42, has not fought since his dominating decision win over Antonio Tarver last June. Wright, 35, last saw action in Decemeber when he dominated Ike Quartey.

The fight takes place at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, live on HBO Pay-Per-View [details]

Wow that was a lot of hate... Lots of excuses already flying if Wright wins.

Wright is going UP in weight to fight Hopkins. You better give him respect if he wins. I understand a little better if Hopkins came back down to 160, fought Wright, and looked old. But that ISNT the case.

wow, most predictions are going to wright, thats surprising. hopkins is clearly stronger than wright is, so y do they think winky will jus be able to walk him down and beat him?

I stopped reading your staff's "picks" at the sixth one. Who is Grady Brewer to say that Hopkins will lose. Go back and do ur local fight sessions and leave the brains of boxing to its true fans. Hopkins will kick Winky's ass and when it is said and done, I want all of u staff memeber that picked Stinky to turn in ur resignation. I might miss a pick here and there, but I'm right more than u losers 99% of the time. Hopkins by knockout in Round 9.

I have to go with my heart and my heart says Hopkins. I do realize he could begin to look old Saturday night though....

But Hopkins has got to show his age at some point right? However, you'd be a brave man to put money on someone beating BHop, brave or ******.

Hopkins overhand right will stop Winky

If it takes one or 12 rounds Winky will not survive them, Benard will have no problem staying away from Winky's Left jab as he just had a big practice session with the bigger and stronger Tarver. I see Winky getting knocked across the ring with Benards excellent counter. Think Joppy.
