I hope HBO keeps Merchant with them until Larry decides on his own terms that he wants to bow out of the game. His commentary is spot-on and I love his post fight interviews. Plus I love it when Lampley or Steward get a little overexcited about a particular fighter and Larry sets them straight about it.

I also love the pauses in his words. The viewer is tricked into thinking Larry is a ****ing genius as it appears he's thiking really hard about a hard question. Then he comes out with something like "At any time.......in the fight....did....he...hurt you?" Long live Larry Merchant, I wish he was my father so I could talk to him for hours on end.

After watching the Corrales-Mayweather, Judah-Corley, and Cotto-Torres fights, I'm wondering why George Foreman isn't still commentating. Man, he was REALLY good. And when you compare him to Lennox, he's a god. Why isn't he still with HBO?

sometimes, i think that larry merchant died and no one told him.
but other times he is mad funny and good to listen to at certain points.
i always get laughs out of him either way.
