First, cong**** to Paul Williams. However to all casual, Jo blo boxing fans or Antonio Margarito Haters, not hardcore fans, that know how to score and judge a fight-- dont let HBO fool you with Harold Lederman's card, and Emmanuel Steward's comments.
Both were not in attendance at the Home Depot Center were not there at ringside to really call the fight. TV and being there live is different. Too bad Steward was not there live in person to analyze and shut up or influence both Larry, Jim and Harold. No offense to them but they have never laced them up. I was three rows from ringside and Williams took the first three rounds jabbing. The rest of the fight, I saw Margarito simply counter, catching and blocking, Williams punches half ways with his glove than punch and get inside, the majority of Williams punches (like I do PS2 Fight Night Rd3 vs. the Computer). Thats how easy he made it look from ringside, not TV, all you heard were thumps, not shar crisp punches from Williams. Margarito was also the aggressor while Williams held and ran, yes Williams was active, hitting air and gloves, but it looked like Williams was hitting punch mitts on Margarito's palm (green part of glove). Im telling you rounds 4-12, Margarito dominated with punishing hooks to the body, and stunned Williams various times. I also recall Lou Moret warned Williams for holding more than 5 times and no points were ever deducted (that would have made a big difference).
Each time Margarito was on the move pounding him there he was slow dancing with Margarito like prom night. Well what do you expect Goosen chose rookie judges two of them with no world title experience and one from Ohio, who's last World title fight was last year (when is there major title fights in OHIO?), these judges counldnt take matters into their own hands with the slow dancing from Williams (like I said rookie judges). Experienced judges easily would have scored it 7 to 5 with a total score that would have included the deductions. HBO dont know s**t about boxing, its all about the experts, web sites, including this one. I have seen the fight a total of 4 times after the bout, 3 times with the audio and once on mute, and I scored it 7-5. the EXPERTS SAW IT NOT HBO.
Its weird how HBO disses Margarito as one of the top welterweights but includes Kermit Cintron?????, Also, SHAME ON HBO HOW THEY EXPLOITED & USE GATTI, it sucks how Gatti went out, he did give us boxing fans memories. Once again HBO SEES, Ratings (Gatti), $$$ (Contracts) AND RECORDS (Williams). GOOD THAT HE DIDNT THANK HBO, BUT HE DID THANK HIS FANS ! Please post. Come on Bring it ! MIGUEL COMMERCE CA.
