I loved Diego as a fighter...but just like I say about Gatti, the Hall should be about excellence.
Diego fought many entertaining fights, the guy had more heart than just about anybody...but he did not define his era.He did not dominate his era.
Diego was very good,as was Gatti...but I believe greatness should get you in the Hall.
So,sadly I would say no to both guys...they were both good, not great.
I'd say yes. I believe comparing Corrales to Gatti is an unfair comparison. Gatti was a B class fighter his entire career and failed against any A class guy he faced (De La Hoya, Mayweather). Corrales beat some very solid A class guys in his division in Jose Luis Castillo, Joel Casamayor and Acelino Freitas. Guys who Gatti could never even dream of being able to beat.
Corrales should definately go in the hall of fame if you ask me. Even if you wipe away the Casamayor and Freitas victories, he was still the winner of the most brutal dramatic fight of the last 25 years, possibly ever. A performance like that alone is enough to solidify any claim on his behalf.
Yeah but Mike Tyson should? The saddest figure in boxing history, who never had the discipline or heart to commit himself after Cus died. The same guy who never beat anybody close to the caliber of men conquered by Corrales.
