    Margaritos May Fight Cintron :news

    Kermit Cintron Update
By Gabriel Montoya (July 18, 2007) Doghouse Boxing
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Minutes ago, DoghouseBoxing.com’s Gabriel Montoya was informed by the manager/trainer of Kermit “The Killer” Cintron, Manny Steward that Cintron has made a deal with Main Events to appear on the under card of the upcoming Fernando Vargas / Ricardo Mayorga fight September 8th at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

“ Our goal is to keep Kermit active and the super fights will come," said Steward.

Of the other top welterweights, Steward named Antonio Margarito as the opponent he would most like to see Kermit in against.

“ Just like Wladimir [Klitschko] with Brewster, the signature fight of Kermit’s is the loss to Margarito. Despite a long layoff, two hand surgeries and not being able to really train properly going into the fight, people still hold that one against him.”

Since that loss Cintron has shown a great deal of improvement.

“ Time will tell how good he really is,” says a quietly confident Steward.

“ I think he knocks them all out,” Steward added.

    More from this exclusive interview

    with Manny Steward to come.

The first thing i thought after watching Margarito lose against Williams was that the best thing for his career would be to go and have a rematch with Cintron.

Kermit has a belt and is wanting to avenge his previous and quite devistating, only defeat. He looked really convincing last weekend also.

Whilst Margarito will want to come back convincingly and if he's fighting against someone who he's already destroyed once then it would be of a benefit for Tony to fight Kermit.

Benefits for both fighter's careers...and i reckon it'd be a good fight aswell.

He would like to but it would be foolish on his comeback trail. Maybe after another fight. Margarito can take Cintron's shots but can Cintron withstand Margs shots?

i aint gettin ****y. i know tony needs a title, but kerm needs to avenge his only loss jus as bad as tony needs a title. i know tony is a tough ass dude and it aint gonna be a walk in the park, but i think if kerm concentrates and trains VERY HARD he can make it past margarito and move on to bigger and better fights.

i am also a little biased towards kerm, cuz he is from my area and trains not too far from where i live, so i seen him train a few times, but i think this time around he will be better prepared.

Good deal for Cintron and boxing to keep him active, and since it's not the main event, fans can't really complain when they bring in a nobody for him to KO for the people. If Rivera-Santos is really going to happen on this card as well, it's starting to look like a strong buy, especially if Collazo-Sharmba Mitchell would be the fourth fight and the least significant--that's not a bad fourth fight on PPV these days.
