Is Arturo Gatti a Hall of Famer?
Collapse

No, he's not. Hall of famers are people with skill and heart. Isn't all Gatti have is heart? And look at him now, he's brain damaged goods that got his ass beat by a contender fighterComment
-
No.
And this just in......before people start feeling bad, just keep in mind he's made more money than most other pro fighters for taking beatings.
There are literally thousands of pros who don't get the big check on the big stage who would be more than willing to show the kind of stuff Gatti has.
FYI I'm not saying he's not one of a kind because he's a great Warrior and he's given the fans a host of exciting fights.....but this martyrdom is pissing me off.

No, he was a very good boxer and a champion at a time, but to be a hall of fame you have to be much more than that.
I have nothing against Gatti, and actually i respect him very much and admire his heart, but thats just not enough. The hall of fame is something made for legends.Comment

i aint voting, but i will say this gatti has had some hall of fame fights, but a hall of fame fighter, i just don't see that.
it's a tough one to call when you consider his multiple FOTY's and the drama plus excitement that he brought to his fights but as far as his whole career, no he isnt a hall of famer, everytime he's stepped up in class he's lost, except once and that was against patterson.
exciting and dramatic? yes. hall of famer? eh, 85% no, 10% yes, 5% maybe in some special category but then that would dilute the integrity of the hall of fame if they made up special places for lower echelon fighters..............how about an honorable mention in the hall of fame?????Comment

No, he doesn't belong. The victories aren't there. He's never dominated a division, or beaten any one division's best fighter (s).
Extrememly exciting ? Yes. Good for the sport ? Unquestionably.
Great ? Not even closeComment

No, but he will always be remembered as a fighter with tons of heart and a crowd favorite, and all around good guy.Comment

No with a caveat. He'll likely get in because HOF voting is East coast dominated to the nth BUT if he gets in how can one explain Nigel Benn not being on the ballot? Seriously...Benn had the same quality wars but at a MUCH higher level and actually was in the fights with his best foes.Comment
