If Roy fought Calzaghe? Could he walk Calzaghe down like he did Hanshaw

Last night Roy at times went to a style that was similair to Winky Wright and was walking down Hanshaw ,making him back up at times. Roy wasnt thorowing a lot of punches ,but he was doing a good job just blocking Hanshaw's punches but still coming forward.

What if Roy fought Calzaghe like this. Use his strength to backup Calzaghe and make him waste a lot of punches ,yet attacking Calzaghe to the body while fighting this style.

Roy would have to be in tip top shape to maintain this style for a long stretch against a guy like Calzaghe.

I believe this is otherwise known as the Jeff Lacy plan.

Roy when he wants to is a better defensive fighter then Lazy though.

When it comes to blocking punches and countering off that

True of course, but it's meat and drink to Calzaghe. The way to beat Calzaghe is to bring him forward.

I honestly think Roy is a bad matchup for Calzaghe but a great matchup for him, Joe ain't got the power to really hurt Roy, and Roy wont tire himself out like Lacy, if Roy sits on those ropes and potshots all night then Joe will be in for a long night.

The least of Lacy's problems were getting tired.

Roy has gone. Left the building. Is no more. Is an ex-boxer. Letting him back in the ring, let alone against a top P4Per is just plain wrong.

I'm sorry but I don't see it like that, I think he's still effective and has a legitamate chance of beating Calzaghe.

I think you're woefully wrong. Roy would have struggled against calzaghe in his prime, although I'd have predicted a Jones win. This shell of a man has no chance.

If Roy could take calzaghes shots then who would take a 12 round beating to match the one the Calzaghe gave lacy, If I was a fan of Roy I certainly wouldnt want to see this fight
