Williams' reach and height will be a challenge, but it's difficult to say that Williams can keep Cotto away for an entire 12 rounds. Williams' can't fight on the inside, and has a very very long torso which allows for a huge target for that left hook.Comment

Cotto hasn't had any real trouble with Southpaws.
Margarito had key chances to really hurt Williams inside but he didn't do anything. He didn't throw enough combos and his body shots are not as effective as Cotto's. Williams admitted he was rocked a few times after that fight, Cotto would knock him out.It could be a good fight. And interesting to see how Cotto would approach this fight. It would be very tough for him to get inside because of the height and the reach. You could tell that it was even a problem for the 5'11 Marg.
But I think you guys underestimate Williams heart/chin. He took some tough body shots (a few which were very low) and he took some tough hooks. I don't see how you think he couldn't take a good punch. It's not like he's running away for the most part he would fire right back or duck out of the way. Anyway I would lean to picking Williams. I have always thought he would be able to beat Cotto even before the Margarito fight.Comment

I think being a southpaw and with such height and reach, he would pose great difficulty for Cotto. I prefer to see Margarito vs Cotto - better matchup.Comment

I'm gonna guess Williams would win. I just see that long jab giving Cotto absolute hell for the whole fight, and Williams has great stamina and conditioning. Cotto had enough trouble with Judah for me to think that Williams would beat him, since Williams is a lot taller and a lot better conditioned and mentally tough than Judah.Comment

The difference in height and reach is pretty scary. Paul's best punch is his left uppercut too, and Miguel tends to dip right when he fights southpaws. I know Cotto will get his chances inside, but the punishment he may take to get there might either lose him a decision or get him knocked out.
It all depends on how many clean body shots he can land when he gets his chance because Williams wont be able to take many of Cotto's body shots. Thats one problem with being so lanky.Comment
