You wanna see a fighter quit in the ring...go watch Freitas fight.

But Lamon Brewster didnt quit that night. Good Point Sensation.
What on Earth would be the point of continuing the fight? There are just some sick people who want to see someone get hurt bad. Either that or they want to see a dramatic display ala Gatti (One more round, as Gatti proclaimed with Mayweather, even though it was absolutely ridiculous). Everyone is human, even boxers. I wish everyone who talked **** about boxers whose corners stopped a one-sided thrashing would get in the ring.

More often than not, it's been fat guys with unrealistic views and perspectives of boxing and fighters who make these outlandish claims of "Oh, so and so is a ***** because his corner stopped the fight because his eyes were completely closed and he had a detached retina. If he woulda died, I would've made a thread about it, however."

Did you not write an article where you quoted Brewster as saying he was willing to die in the ring? That was not a fighter willing to die. He didn't even try. It's one thing if he attacks and gets hammered with counter punches, but he was never on the offense in that fight for even 3 seconds at a time.

The man was utterly outclassed by a vastly superior technician. That kinda stuff happens. Lamon listened to Buddy, it's only in Rocky movies in which fighters ignore their corners. That and Diggstown, in which the dude catches the towel in the air and throws it back.

I'm sorry you were disappointed by the lack of a violent and painful conclusion. Do you want to see a man die in the ring? I have Leavander Johnson-Jesus Chavez on VHS, I can send it to you.

If a man can't see, then a man can't fight. Being sans-vision complicates a lot of things.

I think what seriously discouraged Brewster from continuing the fight was the end of round 6. If you watch it again, Wlad threw 2 very nice right hands, one of which pushed Brewster back even though it landed on his gloves. He knew that Wlad is going to turn it up even more next round, since Steward said that Wlad will knock Brewster out in 7th round way before the fight. Can't blame him, he knew what was coming. Is anybody here going to stand in front of a rushing freight train and not jump aside because of their pride?

True but what I actually meant to say was that the both Freitas and Brewster took an equal amount of punishment IMO. I mean...Brewster coudn't see...he took punishment from round 1.

Freitas was actually winning that fight then Corrales came on strong in the middle rounds.

Sure a 230lb Brewster can take Wlad jab but lets not forget the eye problem he had and was just recently medically cleared to fight.

I'm not trying to start a fight with you, but Brewster after the fight said NOTHING about his eye and even denied eye problems. To come out now and start saying stuff means he realizes he messed up on Saturday and wants another chance, which I don't think he should get. It's not an excuse if your eye is damaged. He could have said it, but he didn't because it wasn't bothering him. Don't tell me he didn't want to taint Klitschko's victory the way Klitschko tainted his because I don't buy that at all. Lamon's a nice guy, but if you're really experiencing an injury like THAT, you say it. An eye isn't a broken finger or a hurting shoulder. Without your eye, you can't fight.

Lamon can't come up with anything that we can't shoot holes in. I have no problem with him quitting, but to come out now and say it was Buddy who made him quit it nonsense because he could have agrued if he wanted to. If you're going to quit, fine. Quit and don't say anything more about it. But don't do this.

What I meant by Lamon being unable to see is that his eyes were completely closed from swelling. Look at any pic after the fight, Lamon's eyes were completely swollen shut. Buddy told him that he was stopping the fight, you listen to your corner. End of story, that's boxing and how you stay alive.

your wasting your time trying to argue with this fool. the guy is just an iditotic coward with a cold heart. smack him with an open hand and he'd probably fall to his hands and knees yet he has the audacity to criticize brewster who's taken more punishment in his career and in that fight alone than 99% of us on this board combined
