It has been widely reported today that Maskaev may give up the WBC heavyweight title. It's being said that Peter will fight likely McCall or possibly Virchis (the leading WBC contenders) for the WBC title, if Maskaev gives up the belt. This may or may not happen, and there are other possibilities, but if it does, how do you think this fight will go?

Why would Maskaev give up the title and lose out on the payday he'll make for the Peter fight? I know that he wanted the more lucrative Vitali fight but if he gives up the title then he gets to fight no one.

Anyways, I hope one way or another, that we'll see either a title fight or interim title fight this YEAR. I can't imagine if this whole situation gets dragged out into 2008...
