      I keed, I keed.
Louis= The one heavyweight champ at the time, dethroned the champ to win his belt.

Calzaghe= One of a few 168 lb. champions, won a fight over a late replacement to win a vacant WBO belt, one of FOUR 168 lb. titles.

He's already won the IBF and is about to add the other 2. Not bad, eh?

Louis' competition wasnt anything special anyways. Calzaghe really isnt breaking the record though because he only had a piece of the belt. He wasnt the real champion for 20 defenses.

Not bad, but still different from being the one and true champion during all those defenses.

Just like Hopkins. His 20 defenses is impressive, but it's still different from someone who makes those defenses as the only champion.

Don't forget but Calzaghe IS the man of the 168 and besides my post was not about the legitimacy of Calzaghe's championship, it was more of a historic note about Joe Louis.

How in the hell does it "tarnish" Joe Louis' reputation and legacy if Calzaghe takes his title reign record? Records are made to be broken, buddy. If anything, it reflects well on Louis for setting a hurdle that took so many years to be overcome by another fighter. That's sheer silliness.

max schmeling, billy conn (twice), and jersey joe walcott (twice) are all legendary HOFers.

joe calzaghe has never ever fought anyone who even remotely resembles a HOFer.
