there won't be any dodgey refering for the fight, its a world title unification fight the stoppage vs Manfredo i think the ref was just doing him a favour he didnt answer to what 15 punches? even tho most didn't land and was early he would have been stopped soon after that. Just look at the Lacy fight that should have been stopped in the 12th but never did, depends on the occasion and the class differance between the two fighters.
Calzaghe vs Kessler is OFFICIALLY ON.

For some reason I suspect that Kessler is chinny. However, I don't see this fight as being the one to expose it, even if Calzaghe is far and away the best he has, is about to and possibly will ever face.
Calzaghe has a lot of tricks, but I don't see him doing enough to keep Kessler off of him for 12. IMO, that will be the difference in the end, with Mikkel taking a close decision.
Off topic for a moment - among the many other positives to come out of this fight being signed, this forces Taylor's hand to go forward with the Pavlik fight. Taylor-Pavlik has yet to officially be signed, but with this fight now finalized, Jermain is out of formidable options for the rest of the year. Fighting anyone other than Pavlik creates the perception that he's ducking him, regardless of the validity (or lack thereof) behind claims of no longer being able to make 160.Comment

HBO is insane if they pass on this fight...it's slated for the first Saturday of November so perhaps Showtime will get the fight.
Great, great news. Great, great fight. A Calzaghe win sets up a showdown with either Taylor or the Hopkins-Wright winner and it would establish him as one of the best 168 lb'ers of all-time. A Kessler win probably brings a rematch to Denmark...should be fun.Comment
