Donaire Says Gabi Was a Great Help

Newly crowned IBF/IBO world flyweight champion Nonito Donaire says Diosdado Gabi who fought Vic Darchinyan and lost by an eighth round TKO helped him out a lot even though they worked out only for a week at Freddie Roach’s Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles.

He seems a little bitter that he didn't have the support of all the pinoys like Pacquiao.

I remember Gabi winning most of the rounds before he got stopped, and he was really small. Thats when I knew Vic would get beaten by a good boxer who could take his punch.

He's famous in the pinas now. I guess Nonito was not in the hot prospects list. I hope he does not waste his talent like Brian Villoria. Nonito looks to have the right attitude, passion, and hunger to succeed. Brian lacked the hunger of a fighter that needed to win to eat. Nonito seems different. It seems nonito is different. He understands what he represents and seems proud of it. He now finally has the support of Pinoys, I don't think he'll dissappoint.

now for sure he won the pinoy fans, he made 07-07-07 a special day for us, when he made it 2-0 in a world title fight for the Philippines

Yeah,. he sounds bitter. I was rooting for him to win but only saw 1 fight of him(don't even remeber). He was in the Ring Mag(the section on upcoming fighers) and was underrated fighter by the mag. I thought he was gonna win by UD but did not expect to win by KO.

Also, the problem is he does not have the media exposure like Gerry Penalosa or Rey Bautista were getting in the Philippines.
