Now that I think of it, doesn't Brewster usually wear camoflage colored trunks?

Maybe the guy thought Brew was gonna do that again this time and painted his face to match what he thought was gonna be worn.

But still, you'd think he'd clean it off once he found out otherwise.

I think they tried to provoke Wlad, his face looked like he was sick in their first fight. So imo they referred to the rumours after that bout.
