IBF Counted Brewster as Mandatory Defense

Heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko revealed on his official website, that the IBF sanctioned last weekend's six-round demolition of Lamon Brewster as a mandatory defense of his title. A very significant move by the sanctioning body because it opens the door for Klitschko to now fight any opponent of his choosing. Of course, they are also ready to sanction an eliminator between Chris Byrd and Calvin Brock, two men Wladimir already knocked out, in order to create a new mandatory to the IBF title. [details]

The Byrd vs. Brock eliminator may throw a wrench into attempts at unification fights early next year...Wlad may need to sacrifice his IBF belt, or take a meaningless fight against someone he knocked out already.
