    becoming pro: update

the guy i was talking about won his fight. sad to say it wasn't the way you want to win. but he did get off the canvas to do so and he broke the other guys nose.

but he won because the other guy broke his fist on his face. 2nd round tko, the opponent stayed in his corner.

like i said, he needs more experience and amateur experience is the place to get it. not a long lengthy career in the AM's but at least a year and some change with a rigorous fight schedule( if you're in a hurry)......

i personally think his trainer is hustling him, using him to make a buck. as a trainer you don't get **** for an amateur fighter, for a pro fighter, even a in the beginning you get some cash, and i think that is all his trainer is out for, a quick and easy buck.
it's an old hustle, hype up a young and naive guy, make him think he can hang as a pro, but him in with some of your other notable fighters, tell them to take it easy and just get a workout, the young guy thinks he's actually fighting, all the while the trainer is pumping him up hyping him, pressuring him to turn pro, telling him he can be world champ, and then run him into the ground win, lose, or draw the trainer gets his money. if he is going to be anything it's because of himself and not his trainer, his trainer is just going through the motions, work as usual.
i hope that's not the case but **** like that happens all the time in boxing. inexperienced get preyed on................

all in all, he needs to take it real slow to avoid a bums record................nothing wrong with losses as long as you improve from them and don't have more losses than wins too.

Any chance of telling him whats going on?

It also depends on what his background is, has he been training since he was a young kid?

If you really want to tell him whats going on though, you should ask him what his point of view is, maybe this guy also wants a quick buck and is boxing for the hell of it.

If he tells you that he really believes that he can contend with real boxers you should tell him what you think.

Anyone with half a brain will realise that they're being hustled as long as you tell him the complete story of whats really been going on.

to be honest i don't think that he can be talked to right at the moment. i think his trainer has his head filled and has told him that people will say this and that. as of right now, sad to say, i think he's going to have to learn the hard way.

i only know him from my friend, so i can't really jump up and say this and that without having him be like " who the hell are you? " which is fine, i can respect that, but he does need to be told that there are a lot of crooks in the sport other than promoters. it's hard to talk someone down off a ego trip, especially when the guy who is hustling you is pumping your head and ego up.

but all in all, he aint ready for the pro's and his trainer knows that, he has to or he doesn't know **** about fighting. which he does, which makes it a scam.
