It sounds to me, Easton, and forgive my bluntness, that you've simply grown jaded towards a sport you once loved.

Although I do feel that boxing has definitely changed over the past 30 years, I absolutely do not share your feelings.

You speak of fighters lacking the heart and courage and skill of yesterdays fighters, and I dont think you can fairly make that statement.

In fact, you might even say that boxing is better off now than it was. Why? The advent of the internet, for one thing.

The criminal element in the sport has existed as long as there have been promoters. We as fans are simply more AWARE of it now than we would have been back then, as the world has grow much, much, smaller since since the net came along. Now, everybody knows everything.

The skill level of boxers today, I think, is superior to the skill level of boxers of yesterday. Boxers today, for the most part are realizing the benefits of not getting hit, a la Muhammad Ali, and are more careful. To me it makes the fights no less entertaining.

I rambled a bit, here, I know, but I hope I was able to get my point across.

I don't know how anybody can argue with this post. Boxing needs to get back to what it was in the 80's and earlier part of the 90's.

Boxing is just like any sport some things in it need to change and some things don't. Do you people realize that there has never been a fighter that has all known and respected fighters on his resume. You can pick any fighter you want throughout history and I garauntee you that there will be plenty of names of people that they fought that you will have no idea of who they are. You can't always blame one fighter for certain fights not happening. Or hold and judge fighters by different standards. How a fighter is outside of the ring should have no bearing on how his skills and talent is in the ring. It is all fine and well for you want them to lose for whatever reason but not when judging them for ring performance only. Money has always been very important to boxers why do you think so many of them end up broke later on in life because they love money just like the rest of us and they spend it like it is going out of style.
To many of yall hate on change and the new style of things just because it is new and not what you are used to. New or old doesn't mean its better I think you should respect the old for what it was in its era and respect the new for what it is in its era. No need to compare because in reality some of the new school boxers could compete in the old eras just some of the old school era boxers could compete now.
Easton Mayweather didn't show heart, grit, determination and toughness, when fought with broken hands on many occasions or a torn rotator cuff? Come on man keep **** real. I understand a lot yall would rather see PBF go for the KO after he has softened up his opponent for 6 rounds knowing the person is basically through but him not going for the KO has nothing to do with determination, grit or heart.
