I completely agree with this. I also feel Marquez should be the one Manny should be fighting. While Barrera-Manny makes sense money wise, as far as Manny's standings, it won't do much. Infact it's more of a high risk low reward fight for Manny in terms of stature. Should Manny win, who cares? Barrera just lost to Marquez, Manny already beat Barrera soundly, and Barrera is an old man. Plenty of excuses for Manny's win without it even taking place. Manny losing would be a very bad thing in every aspect. So let's just take Barrera out of the equation because he should be. In comes Marquez, the man with the belts, the man who as said, drew with Manny, and beat Barrera. Why the heck would you not face him?

To say that Marquez is the barometer of PAC's greatness is a bit immature.

Marquez is an elite which has the skills to beat PAC but let us all remember PAC was screwed by the decision. Marquez didn't dominate PAC, he SURVIVED for the rest of the fight to sc**** a draw.

But I do agree PAC needs to fight Marquez again.

The bad problem is that Marquez has a tendency to OUTPRICE himself. That's the reason why PAC just threw the WBC no.1 status, which I do agree with. PAC doesn't need a belt to prove his greatness. Under the rules Marquez would get 75% of the purse which is just downright wrong.

PAC should make it a point that he is the MAN to beat, if the WBC will then assume a 75-25 split then it is only right for PAC to throw his status at the WBC.

But the bottomline, Marquez should not outprice himself and PAC given the right money and this fight will happen. Maybe next year.

Soto is the real test for anyone at 130lbs ! JMM was the test for MAB, EM and PAC. This article came 7 years late. Thanks to PAC who actually had the n*ts to step up to JMM when MAB and EM could not even utter the name Juan Manuel Marquez, when they were enjoying their time in the limelight when they were beating each other up in the late 90's .

I've been saying this same exact **** since the late 90's, that the real deal was JMM, not the two overrated C+ legends. Folks, JMM dominating MAB had nothin' to do w/ MAB being "war-torn", a similar scenario would've happened years ago if MAB had the b*lls to face JMM. I would've also picked JMM over EM, but it would've been a more interesting fight because EM has a jab and also was/is a solid counter-puncher.

If PAC would've had the rematch w/ JMM right after his first win against EM, I would've picked PAC. 'Cause PAC showed improvement by way of feints, pivots and being consistent w/ body punching, 3 things he would need to counter JMM's style, and also PAC is thicker which probably means he has gotten physically stronger and also has the athleticism to match JMM's talent. Also, PAC beating EM gave him maturity in the ring

But, i would've picked JMM over PAC if the rematch would've taken place prior to PAC - em 2, it would've been too soon for PAC to be facing the ultra-skilled JMM. PAC facing EM a second time gave him time to hone his skills against a guy who was not as complex as JMM's style.

agreed, but, neither Barrera or pac's status can be questioned at this point. Both have proven themselves as has Morales. Those three have solidified HOF careers and Pac has a chance at ATG status!

Soto is good but not in those guys level, he was hurt by bobby ****ing pacqiao for ****s sake, he cant take hits to the body adn manny would ****ing crush him if they ever fought, marquez would totally outfight him and barrera would stop him from damage by bodyshots, even guzman would beat soto

Another thing, why GOLDEN BOY and TOP RANK is giving their best to get PAC? I would say, PAC is the future of boxing hall of fame. Going against the best fighter after Barrera like JMM, Guzman, Valero and etc..

Climbing to Lightweight and future fight of the year with Joel Casamayor or even Juan Diaz..Watch it guys.
far less in skill? JMM has much more accuracy than barrera. and he gave Pac a boxing lesson. he would have won if he didnt get knocked down the first round.

I agree with a lot of this. But you can't call EM or MAB overrated C+ legends. They have fought other great competition besides each other throughout the years. JMM might be great but he did lose in the past to not as great competition, and he hadn't been in the battles MAB or EM had been in. His body has far less mileage although that only goes as far as how many people believe in war torn body damage. I do agree that JMM is without a doubt the best technical between the EM and MAB but EM and MAB have wills that make up for what they lack as does Manny.
