Jeez, dude...calm down. I'm a BIG Gatti fan, but it's looking more and more like his best days are behind him. And I'm judging with my eyes. I thought that the Mayweather fight was so one sided due to Gatti stretching to make weight (though I felt he was still the major underdog going into that fight), but his fight againt Damgaard was too much of a war against a guy who most feel shouldnt have been THAT much of a threat. Baldomir sealed the deal, imo. I hope he still has something left in the tank for a nice farewell, but we have to be realistic here.

I know its just every time I go online somebody is saying GATTIS a BUM.tHEY TALK AS IF HE WAS NEVER anything.I am a BIG GATTI fan along with a huge boxing fan.I own ALL of GATTIS fights along with MAYWEATHER,COTTO,TYSON,OSCAR,ROY JONE,DURAN,CHAVEZ,ALI,WILFREDO GOMEZ,and numerous other FIGHTERS' BOX SETS THAT I can't think of now,and GATTIS carrear is by far the most exciting.BUMS dont win fights of the year 5 times.Go thru the last 20 years of fights of the year ,its NEVER 2 CLUB FIGHTERS,Its always 2 ELITE fighters that display talent ALONG with the BALLS to sell out defensively while searching for the knockout.WHEN gatti WAS 26-1 WITH 23 KO'S AND HADN'T LOST since his 4th fight and was defending his WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP BELT that he won off of TRACY HARRIS for the 6th time HBO's LARRY MERCHANT was calling him the young PHENOM from ITALY.I dont think EMMANUEL STE***** favorite fighter would be a bum.In my opinion too MANY people who havnt seen GATTI fight before the first WARD fight act like experts.In boxing theyre seem to be too many critics who claim to be fans and not enough people who have actually stepped into the ring themselves (YES I HAVE) but still THINK they know WHAT the **** theyre talking about.

i agree w/ alot of what u said....i am a gatti fan & a huge boxing fan. people forget that gatti early on was seen as 1 of the best fighters in boxing....unfortunately his out of the ring problems & discipline cost him a good chunk of his prime (boozing-ladies-etc)
gatti at a different time & place destroys manfreddy & ivan robinson (2 losses people always bring up).....the gatti that beat patterson-millet-leija-etc....stops manfreddy & robinson inside of 6 rds
the one thing i don't agree w/ is when guys say u need to have stepped into the ring or u don't know anything about boxing....that's like saying if u never played on a football team, u can't make an intelligant conversation about football, same for if u never played baseball or basketball, etc....all u need is a brain, think rationally, eyes & common sense......as well as an understanding of the sport.
yes i have trained & worked out.....but some of the best boxing minds i have ever met never put on gloves or did so briefly.....
ps-mayweather talked all his crap, but he sure trained his butt off for a "bum" & a "C fighter"......& a drained, far from ready gatti took everything the phenom had to offer.....let's be real, they only thing left for mayweather to do was hit him w/ a bat.....& gatti was never in shape to see if mayweather could do the same

I agree with what you are saying to a degree. Gman hit it more on point though. Gatti let himself down with how he handled himself outside the ring. THAT is what caused his fights to be so exciting...but lots of those guys he shouldnt have had to be in a war with to win. But because he wouldnt take care of himself outside the ring, he had to use his HEART to win fights; and not all were won. Losing to Ivan Robinson is not the same as losing to Mayweather. Mayweather is argued as being the best fighter in the game today (let me stress ARGUED...I'm not saying he is); but you cannot say the same for Robinson, even during that time.
I own all of Gatti's fights, as well as all the others that you mentioned plus more; and I agree, it's hard to find a fighter that was more exciting. But exciting doesnt equate greatness; Micky Ward had some exciting fights and is my favorite fighter all time, but he wasnt an all time great by any stretch of the imagination.
Finally, I think what the poster that got you upset meant was that Gatti looks like a shot fighter now. So does Roy Jones, JL Castillo, Toney and others. But being shot now, does not steal from their past greatness or legacy. So whether Gatti is shot or not, he is always going to be remembered for his wars and for his excitement more than his fighting a few fights betond what he should have.

Whats also funny is MAYWEATHER did the most talking that I had ever seen him do up untill that point with GATTI before the fight .He has only done that 3 times with CORRALES,GATTI,and with DELAHOYA(with OSCAR he took it to a NEW level) and a little with JUDAH .It did work he did have GATTI doubting himself to a point I have never seen before ,he seemed very on edge in interviews and needed a second press conference because he didn't want to be in the same room with MAYWEATHER,He definatly got in GATTI's head,but why waste so much EFFORT trashing your opponent in every interview if he is just a club fighter that you believe you are going to anihilate. Wouldn't you want the public to believe your fighting someone who deserves to be in the ring with you ,so you would probably say he is BETTER than he actually is.He never did that **** with MITCHELL,BRUSELLES,BALDIMIR, or the others,and I do agree that to be training like a MAN possessed for a BUM doesn't make much sense. p.S i'M SO ****ING GLAD THAT OSCAR TOLD HIM TO **** OFF IN REGARDS TO THE REMATCH,OSCAR KNOWS THAT AS SOON AS THE CONTRACT IS SIGNED MAYWEATHER WOULD START HIS TALKING AGAIN,I ALSO THINK ALTHOUGH HATTON IS HIGHLY OVERRATED SO IS MAYWEATHER AND HATTON HAS THE STYLE TO GIVE MAYWEATHER HUGE PROBLEMS TO BEAT HATTON YOU NEED REAL 1 PUNCH POWER AND FLOYD DOESN'T HAVE IT.
