Because our great grand fathers thought that Jack Dempsey and Sam Langford were the best ever.

Because our grand fathers thought that Joe Louis and Ray Robinson were the best ever.

Because our fathers think that Ali and Ray Leonard were the best .

Every era has it's own mythic heroes.

In ten years your kids might be calling Wlad the best heavyweight of all time and have Floyd as the best ever ,who knows.

It’s fairly obvious, RJJ and Tyson both had unique styles, immense talent, were massive mediawise, had charisma and a sense of invicibility. Also if you’re young and getting into boxing, looking into the history a bit, they’re the two fighters you’ll read most about from the last 20 years or so.

In the case of Jones, its because he quite simply dominated most his opponents in a fashion never seen by most of our generation. Roy Jones is a great no question, but people have to remember his resume could have been alot better than it was,

And to be honest, the might not be his fault, alot people talk about who Jones didnt wanna fight, but there are lots of fighter im sure didnt wanna fight him, it works both ways too, not every fighter wants to risk their record against the best in the sport.

Jones and Tyson fought everyone who was put infront of them they never ducked anybody. The reason theyre so popular is because Tyson was exciting to watch no HW since prime Tyson has been as exciting to watch.
Jones is popular because hes a true master boxer who won world titles at 4 different weights and beat alot of great boxers such as McCallum,Hopkins and Toney in the process .

Pretty much agree, but to be fair, toney was on a drip the night before the fight, and hopkins wasnt in his prime in that fight.

I know Hopkins wasnt at his best but still gotta give credit where its due,Jones was a master boxer around that time.
I never knew Toney was on a drip before that fight but I'd still pick jones to have won even if Toney was 100% fit going into the fight.
Around those times plenty tried but no one could do anything with Jones.

Hmm i think you mean Jones instead of hopkins here (bold) edit that bit,

But yeah i was inclined to think that too, but having seen some highlights of prime toney when he could make weight, im not so sure, he was unreal, and very fast, and powerful, lol.

But yeah Jones fought him in his prime, in his first fight at 168 i believe and became the 1st guy to beat toney also i think, so he deserves credit for that.

Yeah Toney was great in his prime but McCallum beat him (just shaded it) IMO when he fought Toney.I know tri angular logic dont always work but Jones comprehensively beat McCallum, not many others beat McCallum when he was around his Prime.
