Very few fights were closed circuit, I think the first Ali/Frazier fight in 1972 was the first closed circuit fight.
We have many PPV's each year, closed circuit fights rarely happned in the 70's and some in the 80's.
For the longest time it was illegal to take fight films over state lines. I think the first time it was allowed in the southern states was Louis - Schmeling I, and only then because the racists liked the idea.
In Hatton's last fight, he was fairly boring himself until the perfect KO.
Against Urango, Hatton looked sharp early but held on late when seemingly he did not need to. It got ugly.
Collazo...not a pretty fight.
Mayweather: promised to go toe-to-toe with Oscar, but hey, we all knew he'd get KO'd like that. So, he did the smart thing and fought a boring fight.
Vs Baldomir and Judah, nothing terribly exciting at all happened, except maybe the melee with Judah's camp.
Hatton and Mayweather are p4p guys, but their performances in the ring have not impressed. The wins have been big, but the performances themselves were not attractive to most fans.
thank god someone said it. thank you vers, i been sayin that since the rumor first came upon us. people really are ignorant if they think ricky aint gonna get a world class beating. 140, 147, dont matter. ricky is gonna get beat like gatti, except it might go to 10 or 11 instead of 7. who the hell has ricky hatton beat to even be considered in the same league as floyd???? an over the hill tzsyu and a very very SHOT 135 pound fighter in castillo. yea ricky is the **** alright, except take out "is the" and it will make more sense. no offense to all ur brits, but true boxing fans know mayweather is on a WAY WAY different level than hatton. understand this!

They need to fight each other and settle it.
Objectivity!
Gunstar, $in, anyone with Mayweather in your title recognize this? Any of the more jingoistic Hattonites want to give it a try?
Hatton and Mayweather both have a way to go in the legacy stakes. The only difference is that Floyd, while more talented has a hugely inflated opinion of his achievements (note I said achievements not abilities).
Hatton is more down to earth, likeable and hasn't claimed to be anything particular.
This fight will add much needed creditability to them both.
