floyd mayweather vs arturo gatti
gatti was a titlist along with vivian harris and miguel cotto , tszyu was the champion of this divsion. cotto and harris was up and comers coming close to superstar status . gatti was already a name but ducked kostya tszyu and was the weakest title holder at the time when floyd signed , in hindsight you could argue harris considering he lost to muassa on the undercard of gatti-mayweather.
Secondly, Gatti never ducked Tszyu and Mayweather fought him because of his name. Hatton chose to fight nobodies like Maussa, Collazo, and Urango because they were the weakest titleholders. They had no name recognition whatsoever...

floyd mayweather vs sharmba mitchell
floyd makes hes welterwieght debut having already signed to fight the undistputed champion zab judah. for a warmup he chose a natural 140 fighter who had t move up because he could no longer make 140 plus he was also shot to pieces. in $ins thread he names junior witter has the top fighter at 140 (page 3) if hes so great why didnt he make a defence of hes newly acquired wbc title against newly assigned number 1 ranked challenger junior witter.

floyd mayweather vs zab judah
zab loses hes warmup match to a very big underdog but because of boxing politics is allowed to keep hes ibf title if he signs to fight mayweather. with the ball now solely in floyds court over wether this fight takes place floyd still goes ahead to fight for this paper title against a person coming off a loss to carlos baldomir.

floyd mayweather vs carlos baldomir
floyd realises that hes ibf title is infact bogus and vacates it wich kermit cintron picks up. now a non titlist up at 147 mayweather wants a big fight for another title at the wieght. antonio margorito who was widely considered the number one fighter at the wieght irespected off who was the lineal champion offers flyod mayweather a career high purse of $8m. after he turns the fight down citing nobody knows who margorito is he then signs to fight carlos baldomir. yes baldomir was the lineal champion yes baldomir beat judah and gatti in the same year (zab was favourite but cam in unfocused gatti was even more shot than when mayweather got to him a year previous) but the fact is baldomir was the weakest titlist in the division.

Gatti was made interim champion because of tsyu's inactivity i belive, there has never been any evidence i have seen to suggest Gatti ducked Kostya, Floyd Mayweather called out both Tsysu and Cotto prior to the Gatti fight im pretty sure, the links are out there i have already posted one in another thread, i could probably get one in a bit, and myself and sin discussed this the other day, Tsysu had no intention of fighting mayweather, some say this is because showtime didnt want their top guy dealing with a HBO guy, and some say its because Kostya didnt fancy his chances. Gatti was a draw, which is why floyd took the fight, which was his 1st at 140 i believe, gatti was the weakest title holder, but he was also a guy who must have weighed well over 150 for that, fight, maybe even 160, gatti was huge, and he was a legitmate threat to floyd, which is why if you go back before the fight, people were picking gatti by knockout.
Lol, it's called a tune up, one of the few mayweather has taken in his carrer, Judah was a p4p fighter then i believe and undisputed champ at 147, judah was a southpaw, so was mitchell, oh, another thing was that mayweather actually asked for a fight against miguel cotto at 140 pounds, which was the reason he fought Henry Brussless, who was cotto's sparring partner no?, and which was why cotto was at the gatti fight, it is understood that arum wanted cotto to have no part of mayweather, and ricky hatton did not wanna fight after he declined an offer to unify, so floyd had nowhere to go.
If you look at his interviews after the gatti fight, he says he will stop calling people out after fights, because when he calls them out, they dont wanna fight,
"These guys, they keep saying they wanna fight me, but then they dont wanna fight me, floyd mayweather is willing to fight anyone from 154 on down, you bring them and i'll take them"
His words not mine.
Judah was the BEST fighter at 147 at the time other than floyd imo, he lost a tune up he didnt take seriously, there was still a market for the fight as many thought the loss would make Judah prepare even better for mayweather, Mayweather decided to fight Judah, and the fight did summin like 400,000 in PPV numbers, aka, people wanted to see the fight. Who else could floyd have fought, Hatton? because as i'll explain next, he didnt wanna fight floyd. Cotto was still being protected by arum and was still a little green anyways.
Ricky Hatton tried to get a fight with baldomir before floyd did, again, the link is in boxing scene posted by me in another thread, ricky hatton said he wanted to fight baldomir after the collazo fight, but when floyd got the fight instead of hatton, hatton didnt wanna be at 147 anymore.
This could be the reason,
Hatton had the WBA, floyd had the IBF, if floyd got the baldomir fight instead of hatton, floyd would have two titles (he eventually dropped the IBF) and Hatton would have to go through floyd if he was to win another title at 147, worst case scenario for hatton would be staying at 147, and being floyd's mandatory or floyd staying and being his mandatory, if he stayed at 147, their paths would most likely have crossed sooner, but when floyd got the Baldy fight, Hatton dropped down to 140. Oncemore it is reported that hatton turned down floyd again after team mayweather wanted to fight.

This covers 2 and a half years from January 2003 to June 2005. Mayweather didn't even get to 140 until mid-2004. Aside from that, Tsyzu was a Showtime fighter while Mayweather was contracted to HBO. No way they could fight each other...

If Mayweather has moved up to 147 and has a fight signed at 147 against Judah, why would he stay at 140 and defend his title? Why would he not take a tune up fight to get accustomed to welter? Besides, there wasn't any reason for Mayweather to stay at 140 because the division had lost all its best fighters and Hatton was ducking.
Zab Judah was still considered one of the top welterweights in the world and his loss to Baldomir was considered a total fluke. Judah showed he is a good fighter with his strong performance in the fight. Before his loss, Judah was a P4P fighter. Urango, Collazo, and Maussa have never even been close to P4P in their lives...
Baldomir beat Judah, a better opponent than Margarito and Cintron have beaten in their entire careers. Many would argue Baldomir was just as good, if not better, than Margarito. Besides, he was the lineal champion. What does that mean? If there was only one title at welterweight, Baldomir would have it. He was the true champion at welterweight and you had to beat him to be the man in the division. If Hatton had fought Maussa or Urango and they were lineal, I would understand why he fought them. But instead he went after paper titlists for worthless trinkets. Mayweather will go down in history as a 3 division lineal champion and that doesn't happen unless he fights Baldomir.

The fact is he runs like a chicken, hugs like Ruiz, throw 30 punches per round, has a bad resume and has only sloppy wins to his name.
Excuses are typical of fake Floyd fans nowadays.

He's done enough to be considered #1 P4P the last couple of years...
