    The entire Holyfield fight card

    Abondaye Fountain vs. Kathy Rivers:
Fountain is stronger, the harder puncher, more aggressive, but not active enough. Not enough combinations. Rivers is bigger and fights at a distance. When she switches to southpaw, she throws off Fountain whose right hand comes up short. The better ring general and busier. A majority draw, 1 judge for Fountain and 2 for a draw. Some guy on the floor is heckling Rivers and she backs him down. A real tough girl. Fountain has some promise at a lower weight. She needs a bit more conditioning. Exciting fight.

Adam Richards vs. Billy Willis: Richards much the bigger fighter and heavier puncher. Willis could have grabbed and held, but chooses to fight and exchange. Eventually Richards catches him, and Willis is poleaxed, looking like he is dead. But gets up. Both fighters come in at 233, which is too heavy. Richards looks promising though. Exciting fight with high work rate.

Miguel Roman vs. Jose Alonso: Exciting fight. Roman the better fighter, but Alonso a tough guy and makes him work.

Davis Rodriquez vs. Rick Dyer: Dyer not in the greatest shape, but big enough to push Rodriquez around for a while. Eventually Rodriquez catches him and the fight is over. Another exciting fight. Not sure Rodriquez could hang with guys like Holyfield or Savarese, although a similar sized guy.

Ricky Vasquez vs. Anthony McGee: Vasquez much the better fighter, but McGee skillful and gives him a hard time. No KO this time, but Vasquez takes the decision. Good action fight.

Holyfield vs. Savarese: Savarese much the bigger fighter and gives Holyfield a hard time with his long jab and sharp counters. Holyfield knocks him down several times but Savarese gets up. Not the Holyfield of old, as he spends more time dancing around than actually punching. Holyfield by easy decision. Neither of these guys fought their age. Looked much younger, very active, but I don't think Holyfield can hang with any of the present champs.

A great fight card, much better than the De La Hoya card I went to when Lazcano was in town....

Do you think the Roman fight was stopped prematurely?
