Let's be serious about Mayweather's 'retirement'

It's a good joke, and I respect the man for his sense of humor. He's basically saying he wants to be like Oscar. He'll pretend he's retired, which only means he's not desperate to prove himself anymore, with good reason, and that he'll only take the big fights.

But too many of you are taking it too literally, claiming that Hatton or Cotto need to concede all the cash to 'entice' him to unretire. He's not retired, he's just the top dog in boxing right now.

And he's no Oscar, he just doesn't have that kind of fan base. I know it bothers his hardcore fans on here, but you guys just have to face it. He's never going to demand the big money consistently on his own

It is kind of funny. Is this the shortest retirement ever?

It's a 'retirement' in the sense that all people who work 'retire' at the end of the day.

**** his retirement, its pbf who's itching more to face hatton. he's that greedy, he thinks it's easy money. it could be. i think hatton's camp responded w/ the offer after pbf got ticked w/ hatton's comment after the fight and pbf's camp called out hatton. hatton wouldn't care if pbf retires for good, there are other fighters out there.

I've just retired to my layzboy for the weekend and it'll take more than $10m to draw me out, so maybe the Floyd fans have a point.

I retired my Kayjay's Ghost account and it's going to take at least that much in e-points for me to unretire it. I see what you mean.

Will you need a couple of choice pm insults to get you on your way?
