U know what, if HBO offered mayweather 10 million to do it in the USA, then he would be a lot more tempted,

Again people need to realise, the money he takes depends on where the fight is, anyone who thinks mayweather is gonna be tempted to fight in the UK for 10 million dollars needs their liver tested,

Unless hatton has rilled floyd so bad he would accept that kind of money to come over here, who knows?

    Realistically it wont happen.

There's no harm in trying to get the fight at home. Nobody thought that Calzaghe would agree to go to Denmark but it appears that he has.

I personally don't give a **** where it's at, but going to Wembley for it would make it extra-special.
Ok, i dont think its good negotiation, they should have offered a 65/35 split to do the fight in the US, whats the point in asking to do the fight at wembley when they know full well there is a 5% chance that will happen.

If team hatton wanna get the ball rolling, fine, but do it with sensible offer, i dont mind them trying to get good money for hatton, that is their job, and hatton deserves good money from this fight, so they need to decide if they really want this fight now, then accept the fight will be in the USA, and start talking about Hatton's share of the money,

Not ****ty pipe dreams at wembley which have little chance of happening.

How can a fighter that announced his retirement be ducking anybody?

It worked for Kessler, so it can't be that bad of a negotiation technique.

If Floyd doesn't want to fight in the UK then fine, just hurry up and make the counter-offer.

You have to understand that fight happened five years ago when Castillo was in his prime. Hatton fought a shot fighter last weekend. I don't understand why people don't pay attention to that. You said Hatton bust up Castillo. No he didn't. He landed a good body shot and Castillo just decided not to get up. Point blank Castillo was at his best when he fought Mayweather. So stop comparing the old shot Castillo of today to the hungry prime and dangerous Castillo from five years ago.

Well thats what i hope will happen.

And as i have said many times, Hobson did not state what weight the fight would be at, cos Ellerbe says floyd will only do 147.

And also Frank Warren and what effect he will have on this is important, im sure you have heard the rumors that Hatton will work with him again as part of the out of court settlement with ray hatton, and that his next fight will be at 140, in england against somebody deffo not mayweather.

I'd imagine it would be at 147 as Floyd's belt there is worth a hell of alot more than Hatton's IBO title, but I don't really think the weight is important. If I was Hatton I'd train for 140 regardless, or maybe a couple of pounds over.

I'm not sure what the effect of Warren will be. Minimal I hope, it's just "talking" at this point.

Okay, i hope the fight happens at 147, its fairer to both fighters, and hatton doesnt have to drain himself as much for this fight either.

Very interesting article, here are some of the Key bits.

Hatton and Warren team up for fresh bout of discussions

Despite two years of accusation and counter-accusation, the unlikely prospect that Ricky Hatton and Frank Warren, his former promoter, could work together became a possibility when Warren and Ray Hatton, the boxer’s father and manager, agreed to hold discussions about future bouts as settlement for a libel suit.

The ten-day trial was scheduled to start at the High Court in London yesterday, only for a statement to be read out saying that the two sides had agreed terms. “Frank Warren has agreed to cease his action against Ray Hatton on the basis that both Ray Hatton and Frank Warren have agreed to enter into discussions with respect to Ricky’s future fights,” the statement said.

The action concerned comments made by Ray Hatton on BBC local radio in September 2005 and on a BBC sports website the next month. A case against the BBC is ongoing.

Warren was previously Hatton’s manager as well as being his promoter for the first 39 contests of his professional career, having signed Hatton as an 18-year-old. There was a bitter falling-out after Hatton won the IBF light-welterweight title from Kostya Tszyu in June 2005, resulting in Warren suing Hatton for breach of contract. The case did not go to court. “Never say never,” Ray Hatton said at the time when asked if they might work together again.

Warren said yesterday: “Ray Hatton and I have agreed that we’ll sit down when he gets back from Las Vegas, along with his representatives, to discuss future fights for Ricky. I’m glad we are sitting down and pleased the matter is behind us.”

The matter may seem merely a face-saving end to a bitter dispute were it not for the fact that Hatton is free of ties after his win over José Luis Castillo in Las Vegas last weekend, which put him on the verge of a “superbout” with Floyd Mayweather Jr, who is regarded as the world’s best boxer.

But there are plenty of promoters interested in working with Hatton. Oscar De La Hoya, whose Golden Boy company is fast becoming the world’s biggest promoter, phoned Hatton in his dressing-room after his win over Castillo. Bob Arum, who heads Top Rank, Castillo’s promoter, said after the bout that Hatton could become a huge star in the US, adding, pointedly: “But he has to be promoted right.”

Arum is due in London next month when Steve Luevano, whom he promotes, faces Nicky Cook at the O2 Arena, a show promoted by Warren.

A bout against Mayweather, who has agreed to come out of retirement to face Hatton, would be easily the biggest bout available to Hatton and would have to take place in the US. Should he not agree to face Mayweather now — the Hattons declined a bout in late 2005 — the offer may not reappear.

Hatton’s great domestic rival, Junior Witter, is to make the second defence of his WBC light-welterweight title against Vivian Harris, the former WBA champion from Guyana, in the UK on September 7, according to reports in the US. If correct, it would effectively rule out Witter as being Hatton’s next opponent.
